Snowy and icy conditions are to blame for Saturday morning's accident involving two cars near Hidden Woods Drive in Lake Tahoe. The Nevada Highway Patrol (NHP) released the names of the occupants of both cars, all of whom were sent to area hospitls.
According to Trooper Dave Gibson of the NHP, the preliminary investigation indicates that a silver 2005 Toyota Camry driven by 33-year old Paul P. Yang of San Diego, CA was traveling eastbound in the left lane of US Hwy 50 in a manner too fast for conditions. The Camry crossed the median and entered the westbound lane and struck the front of a gray 2007 Volvo utility driven by 45-year old James R. Killebrew of Carson City. The Camry came to a stop on its wheels in the center median and the Volvo came to rest on its wheels on the westbound shoulder.
The passengers in Yang's car were Abraham Kong (19), Emily Chan (29), Romando Sai (29), and Weo F. Ye (32) of San Jose, CA.
All six occupants of both cars were transported to hospitals (three to Renown and three to Barton) with serious but non-life threatening injuries. The accident occurred approximately 8:48 am.
