South Lake Tahoe To Have Another "Park Tahoe Casino Resort"

By the end of 2014 there will be a new casino on the south shore of Lake Tahoe. Park Tahoe Casino Resort will be the new name of the property currently known as the Horizon, according to Jon Park.

"Our family has a long history in Lake Tahoe and we are so excited to be a part of the continued success of the Lake Tahoe market," Jon Park said. "The renovations we have planned for the Project will be a major part of the continued vision of the South Shore Area Plan."

The $40 million renovation will begin with the closure of the Horizon on April 1. The Parks expect to unveil the newly renovated Park Tahoe before the end of the year.

"We have been so encouraged by the local support and anticipation of this project and we are looking forward to continued and active involvement in our community," David Park said.

130 current employees of the Horizon have taken advantage of a VIP application process that will guarantee them and interview with the Park Tahoe Casino Resort Project executive team.

Brooks Park and the Park Cattle Company opened the original Park Tahoe in 1978 in the location that now houses the MontBleu Casino Resort. Caesars World signed a 25 year lease and took over operations at the property on November 1, 1979. The Columbia Sussex Corporation took over in 2005 and renamed the property MontBleu.
