Schools open, chain controls up around Lake Tahoe

A quick moving storm is leaving behind a few inches of snow around South Lake Tahoe, but not enough to cancel school around the lake. The Winter Weather Advisory is ending at 8:00 a.m. Monday with another 1-3" of snow possible during the day and overnight.
US 50 over Echo Summit - Cedar Grove to Meyers - Chains or traction devices are required on all vehicles except four wheel/ all wheel drive vehicles with snow-tread tires on all four wheels. (Four wheel/all wheel drive vehicles must carry traction devices in chain control areas).
US 50 over Spooner Summit - Chains or Snow Tires Required from Stateline to mile post 4.5 in Carson City County in Nevada.
State Route 89 - Chains or Snow Tires Required from Markleeville to Woodfords, From Picketts Juction to Christmas Valley - Chains or traction devices are required on all vehicles except four wheel/ all wheel drive vehicles with snow-tread tires on all four wheels, Chains or traction devices are required on all vehicles except four wheel/ all wheel drive vehicles with snow-tread tires on all four wheels from Bliss State Park to I80.
Kingsbury Grade/SR-207 - ChaiSgtns or Snow Tires Required - on US-50 from mile post 0.0 in Douglas County to mile post 4.5 in Carson City County in Nevada.
I80 - Chains Required, All Vehicles Except 4-Wheel Drive with Snow Tires - on I-80 from mile post 54.8 in Placer County to mile post 14.2 in Nevada County in California.
State Route 267 - Chains Required, All Vehicles Except 4-Wheel Drive with Snow Tires - on SR-267 from mile post 9.9 in Placer County to mile post 3.8 in Placer County in California.
State Route 28 - Chains or Snow Tires from Placer County to Spooner Summit.
State Route 88 - Chains or traction devices are required on all vehicles except four wheel/ all wheel drive vehicles with snow-tread tires on all four wheels from Ham Station to Woodfords.
