Two South Lake Tahoe men were stabbed on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 on the bike path behind Meek's Lumber by two unknown assailants who have not yet been apprehended.

At 11:20 p.m., South Lake Tahoe Police officers responded to a call at the corner of Lake Tahoe Blvd and Al Tahoe Blvd in front of Denny's. When they arrived they found a 43-year-old white male pacing in front of the restaurant with a stab wound to the side of his abdomen and a 31-year-old white male lying on the ground with a stab wound to the chest. Both victims were transported to Barton Hospital. The victim with the wound to his abdomen was treated and released. The other victim was admitted with life threatening injuries, but is expected to survive according to Lt. Brian Williams of the South Lake Tahoe Police Department.

While neither victim was able to articulate details of this event clearly to the officers at the time, they have since been able to determine that the crime occurred on the bike path. The victims had been approached by two suspects in dark clothing and the four men exchanged insults for reasons not known at this time. Each of the suspects had an edged weapon of an undetermined nature and theyeach attacked one of the victims.

Immediately after this violent encounter, the victims began making their way toward the Denny’s restaurant and the suspects fled in an unknown direction.

So far, the suspects have only only been described as males about 5’-10” and around 160 pounds. One of the victims explained that he believed the suspects may be Hispanic, but this is unconfirmed at this point.

Due to the preliminary nature of this investigation, the victim’s names are not being released at this time.
