Lake Tahoe area roadwork for week of May 9 - 14

LONG-TERM PROJECTS
State Route 89 (Placer County): Work has resumed on a $70.1 million project from Tahoma to just north of Granlibakken Road in Tahoe City that is upgrading storm water drainage and treatment systems, adding curb and gutter, resurfacing and realigning the road, adding new left-turn pockets and widening shoulders on an 8-mile stretch of the highway. Completion is expected by spring 2017.
May 9-14 - State Route 89 (Placer County) from Fern Street to Tahoe Tavern Roads: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations around the clock from 7 a.m. Monday until noon Friday for utility work, drainage work and roadway excavation.

State Route 89 (El Dorado County): Work continues on an $8 million project from Meeks Creek to Wilson Avenue in Tahoma, installing curb and gutter and drainage systems to collect and treat stormwater. The highway is also being resurfaced. The project will be completed this spring.
May 9-12 - State Route 89 (El Dorado County) from Meeks Creek to Wilson Avenue: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday for pavement grinding work.

State Route 89 (El Dorado County): Work has begun on a $13 million water quality improvement project from Cascade Road to just north of the Eagle Falls Viaduct over Emerald Bay. The project will construct new drainage facilities to treat stormwater runoff and repave a four-mile section of the highway. Completion is expected in fall 2017.
May 9-13 - State Route 89 (El Dorado County) from Cascade Road to Bayview Campground/Vista Point: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday for shoulder work.

State Route 89 (El Dorado County): Work has resumed on a $25 million project from the "Y" junction with U.S. Highway 50 in South Lake Tahoe to Cascade Road, north of Camp Richardson. Curb, gutter and sidewalks will be added in the 1.1-mile four-lane section, and the highway will be widened in the two-lane section to Visitor Center Road to provide 4-foot paved shoulders on each side. Drainage systems are also being built and the roadway is being resurfaced. Completion is expected this fall.
May 9-14 - State Route 89 (El Dorado County) from 5th Street to 15th Street: Northbound and southbound motorists can expect the #2 lane and shoulder closed around the clock from 7 p.m. Monday until to 11 a.m. Friday for shoulder work. Motorists also can expect one-way traffic control from West Way to Fallen Leaf Lake Road around the clock from 7 a.m. Monday to 11 a.m. Friday for shoulder work.

State Route 28 (Placer County): Work has resumed on Placer County’s “Core of the Core” phase of the $50 million Kings Beach Commercial Core Improvement Project from State Route 267 to Chipmunk Street. Highway work includes installing curb and gutter, sidewalks, roundabouts, lighting and drainage systems to enhance pedestrian and bicycle mobility, improve safety and provide water-quality improvements. May 9-13 - State Route 28 (Placer County) from the junction with State Route 267 to Beaver Street: Motorists can expect the #1 lane closed from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7 a.m. to noon Friday for utility work.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County): Work continues on a $57 million project by El Dorado County to construct a new overcrossing over U.S. Highway 50, new on- and off-ramps with signalized intersections, and new bicycle and pedestrian facilities at Silva Valley Parkway in El Dorado Hills. May 11-14 - U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from Latrobe Road/El Dorado Hills Road to Bass Lake Road: Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect alternating lane closures from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Wednesday through Friday and 9 a.m. Friday to 9 a.m. Saturday for K-rail removal work.

SHORT-TERM PROJECTS

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from the “Y” intersection with State Route 89 in South Lake Tahoe to Blue Lake Avenue: Eastbound motorists can expect the #2 lane closed from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday for drainage work.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from Truckee Drive to Brockway Avenue in South Lake Tahoe: Westbound motorists can expect the #2 lane closed from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Monday through Friday for utility work.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from Blue Lake Avenue to the Nevada state line: Eastbound motorists can expect the #2 lane closed from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday for drainage work.

State Route 28 (Placer County) from Rocky Ridge Road to Carnelian Wood Avenue: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday for crack sealing work.

State Route 28 (Placer County) from National Avenue to the junction with State Route 267: Motorists can expect the #1 lane closed from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. Monday through Friday for utility work.

State Route 49 (El Dorado County) at Cannon Court: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday for utility work.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from Carson Road to Smith Flat Road: Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect alternating lane closures from 7 p.m. to noon Monday through Thursday, 7 p.m. Thursday to 10 a.m. Friday and 8 p.m. Friday to 8 a.m. Saturday for drainage work.

State Route 89 (Placer County) from McKinney Drive to South Street: Motorists can one-way traffic control from 6:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday for utility work.

State Route 193 (El Dorado County) at Rock Creek Road: Motorists can expect long-term signalized one-way traffic control for emergency repair work, which is scheduled to be completed by July.
