Famed actor and two-time American Century Championship winner Jack Wagner will compete for another victory in Lake Tahoe along with an impressive list of fellow movie and TV personalities adding star power to the field of active professional and retired athletes and Hall of Famers.
Also in the competition from Hollywood this summer are John O’Hurley, Kevin Nealon, Brian Baumgartner, Bruce McGill, Alfonso Ribeiro, Oliver Hudson and Rob Riggle.
Now in its 28th year, the tournament is set for July 14-16 and offering a purse of $600,000, while raising money for local and national non-profits. The 54-hole competition tests the golf skills of 80-plus stars from sports and entertainment and has donated over $4 million to charity. Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course has hosted the tournament since its inception, and it will be televised live by NBC Sports and NBCSN that weekend.
Wagner is currently starring in Hallmark's hit series When Calls the Heart. He is also widely known for roles on the soap operas General Hospital, Santa Barbara and the primetime drama Melrose Place. A perennial contender at the American Century Championship, he is the only non-professional athlete to have won the tournament, doing so in 2006 and 2011. Wagner has participated in Dancing With The Stars and guest-starred on primetime television in other programs such as Monk, Hot in Cleveland and Castle. In addition to his victories at Tahoe in 2006 and 2011, he has won the Club Championship at Bel-Air Country Club nine times. Wagner is one of two players, including former NFL quarterback Jim McMahon, to have played in every American Century Championship. He’s won nearly $600,000 at the tournament in that time.
O’Hurley is best known for his role as the eccentric “J.Peterman” on the NBC sitcom Seinfeld as well hosting the National Dog Show presented by Purina each year. O’Hurley plays an American real estate developer in the recently released movie Swing Away, threatening to destroy the pastoral nature of professional golfer “Zoe Papadopoulos’s” home island by building a five-star world-class golf resort. O’Hurley also stars as “Billy Flynn” in the national touring cast of the musical Chicago.
Nealon became famous for his role on Saturday Night Live and the Adam Sandler movie Happy Gilmore. Nealon most recently appeared in Weeds and a commercial series for Xarelto, playing golf with Chris Bosh and the late Arnold Palmer.
Baumgartner is best known for his role as Kevin Malone in the sitcom The Office. He has also appeared in the popular shows Wilfred, Hot in Cleveland, Criminal Minds and Chicago Fire.
McGill boasts an impressive list of film and television credits. Included on that list are National Lampoon’s Animal House, Lincoln, MacGyver, Cinderella Man, The Insider and Collateral. McGill has also appeared on hit TV shows Home Improvement, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Star Trek: Voyager, Law and Order: Special Victims Unit, Rizzoli & Isles and Numb3rs.
Ribeiro is best known for playing Carlton Banks on the NBC sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. In 2015, he took over for Tom Bergeron as host of America’s Funniest Home Videos. Ribeiro’s first TV role came when he was cast as Alfonso Spears on the TV series Silver Spoons. He was a contestant on season 19 of Dancing with the Stars, winning the competition with his partner Whitney Carson.
Hudson has starred in many television series including Rules of Engagement, Nashville and Scream Queens. He also starred in teen movies The Smokers and Going Greek. He and his sister, Kate Hudson, created a line of active wear for men to go alongside his sister’s women’s line, Fabletics, called FL2.
Riggle is an actor, comedian and a retired United States Marine Corps Reserve officer with 23 years of service. Currently, Riggle appears on Fox NFL Sunday as the prognosticator of the comedy skit portion of the program. He is best known for his work as a correspondent for The Daily Show. He also portrayed various characters on Late Night with Conan O’Brien and served as a cast member on Saturday Night Live. He has had roles in several comedic films including 21 Jump Street, The Internship, The Hangover, Dumb and Dumber To and Step Brothers.
