South Lake Tahoe's 4th of July parade back on

Event Date:
July 4, 2015 - 10:00am

Organizers of the annual South Lake Tahoe 4th of July parade scrambled to remove the roadblocks which caused them to announce earlier this week the event was canceled.

"I had a meeting this morning, and partially due to the public pleas to make it work, we were able to resolve the problems and I am happy to say the parade is on," said JoAnn Conner, owner of Golden Bear Events who is the sponsor of event.

The parade will be moving in an opposite direction from 2013 and 2014. They will be staging in back of the Senior Center and in the Recreation Complex parking lots from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.. They will move out onto Highway 50 from Rufus Allen Blvd, head west along Highway 50, ending at CardinaleWay Toyota. The parade begins at 10:00 a.m.

Since many participants thought the parade was canceled, Conner is asking for help to spread the word it is back on.

Families and businesses pay $50 for their entry with all proceeds going to the VFW Honor Guard.

Scout groups, school groups, and veterans are not charged, but they still need to submit paperwork to participate.

The last day for entries is Thursday, July 2nd, at 5:00 p.m.
