Cram-a-Cruiser event to gather food for Bread & Broth 4 Kids program

Event Date:
October 6, 2018 - 10:00am

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The semi-annual Cram-A-Cruiser Day will be held at the Grocery Outlet at 2358 Lake Tahoe Blvd. in South Lake Tahoe on Saturday, October 6 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Cram-A-Cruiser day encourages the community to fill up a South Lake Tahoe police cruiser with food to be given to children at local schools who need nutrition over the weekend when the LTUSD free lunch program doesn't cover meals.

Bread & Broth 4 Kids gives 150 children a backpack full of food every Friday during the school year. This will be the fourth school year the non-profit has filled the food needs in the community. Each backpack contains two breakfasts, two lunches, three dinners, four snacks, fresh fruit and a Starbucks treat over a normal weekend, and more during holiday periods. That equals to an average of over 1,650 food items given out each week.

During the 2017/2018 school year, an average of 150 students received a backpack of food each week and during the summer program, over 200 children received bags of food each week.
