Inaugural Great Basin Geek Con to be held in Reno

You've most likely heard of, and maybe even attended, Comic Con, a convention of comic buffs that continues to grow in numbers of attendees. Now there is a new kid on the block, Great Basin Geek Con.

Great Basin Geeks of have announced their inaugural foray into pop culture conventions.

Great Basin Geek Con will be held Oct. 17-18, 2015, at the Reno Town Mall, 4001

S Virginia St, Reno.

“The folks at Reno Town Mall and Buy Nevada First share our goal of making
the Great Basin a great place to be a geek," said Michael Ford, Great Basin Geek Con Chairman. "We want to show just how amazing the people in northern Nevada really are, especially the geeks.”

The event will feature local guests, panels, and fun for geeks of all ages – and those new to being geeks. Musical Guests include the Reno Video Game Symphony, the Clarke Brothers, Kiba Walker, and John and John. Other guests include author Missy Ames, cosplay troupe Lovelies Cosplay, comic creator Rob Mather, artist Chris Johnson, author Bobby Davis, comedian Elgin Alway, anthropologist Dr. Christine
Boston, video game creator Dan Bailey, cosplayer Angela in Wonderland, and
author R.S. Archey.

Great Basin Geek Con 2015 features events and programming for everyone: panels on topics ranging the Ethics of Cosplay to getting started in Voice Acting; Cosplay contests for adults and kids 12 and under; wand dueling and house sorting; video games hosted by Green Light Gaming; tabletop games hosted by RageCon; and much more. The convention hosts both an Artist’s Alley and vendor areas.

Great Basin Geek Con is free to attend. Convention hours are Saturday,
Oct. 17 from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m., and Sunday, Oct. 18 from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.
