Sierra-at-Tahoe holds job fair at Mt. Tallac High

A dozen Mt. Tallac students went through a Sierra-at-Tahoe job fair on Tuesday, with many of them being offered jobs on the spot.

This exclusive job fair is the product of an ongoing relationship between the school and the resort. In past years representatives from Sierra visited Mt. Tallac to teach the students valuable interviewing skills and invite them to their community job fairs.

Sierra-at-Tahoe came for the job fair as a direct result of the school's annual Meet & Greet with the community.

"This is the ultimate goal of that event," said Holly Greenough, Mt. Tallac High School Director. She said the students learn how to interact with the community during the Meet & Greet.

Harrah's Tahoe has been to the school twice to conduct interviews with the students, and often call Greenough when they are looking for employees to fill open positions. She said there are 4-5 student who are employed at Harrah's as well as some graduates.

Sierra-at-Tahoe Human Resources Director Melinda Stearns says she has to fill about 700 jobs at the resort by Christmas.
