Mt. Tallac High thanks many for their 2017-18 successes

It is with much gratitude that we give a shout out to our many guardians and community partners at Mt. Tallac High School.

John Marchini and South Tahoe Refuse never fail to keep us fed and jump in when we have an unfulfilled need.

John McDougall is an amazing example of what it means to pay it forward. He provides us with not only Pay it Forward grants and scholarships but he is also on the constant lookout for opportunities and benefits to our students.

Harrah’s /Harveys provides job training, support and meals to create contributing citizens for our community.

Sierra at Tahoe held a Job Fair at our school hiring nine students for their resort because they know the value of investing in local youth.

The Landing Resort and Restaurant schedules interviews with us, reports student progress while teaching, training and paying top dollar!

Soroptimist International morning chapter has become part of our Tallac community! They have trusted our students to set-up, serve and participate in their meetings, they have raised donations and created fourteen scholarship opportunities as well as recognizing and rewarding a student every month of the school year for their hard work. Not only did they focus on academic achievement, but they created Mother’s Day gift bags for our young mothers. They have truly inspired and supported our students to work hard and have pride.

Sandy Molton and Carol Murdoc, forever teachers, have come weekly to work with students that needed extra support and Candice Vandusen-Burt has volunteered her time teaching stretching and relaxation techniques to students in need.

Glen and Louise Gerard are believers in and supporters of the underdog and have created a Pay it Forward scholarship solely for the deserving Tallac students.

The Escola family requested donations be made to our school in lieu of flowers to create a scholarship in their son’s name.

Anthony Sparzo, an angel of the highest order, came monthly from Placerville to counsel and console students suffering from addiction ( either personal of within their family).

Chris Coco Cocores shared his experience and words of wisdom and resilience.
Leon Malmed shared, inspired and celebrated our students and staff.

I fear I may have forgotten a name or two and hope that if I have it will be understood and the support will continue. No act is too small to affect change in a positive way.

It takes a village to raise a child and what an amazing village we have! There are no words to adequately express our appreciation and impact the generosity has had on our school.

I will miss working with all of you as I leave Mt. Tallac but feel with your help and support Mt. Tallac High School will continue to create caring contributing citizens in our community.

Respectfully,

Holly Greenough
Director Mt. Tallac High School
