Incline Village resident dies in Reno crash

The Nevada Highway Patrol (NHP) is investigating a Reno crash that killed 76-year-old Karin Schulze Brown, a resident of Incline Village.
At approximately 5:00 p.m. Saturday, October 7, 2017, NHP Troopers responded to a serious crash in front of the main entrance to Tamarak Junction on South Virginia Street in Reno.
The driver of a 2011 Jeep Liberty had pulled out of the casino to make a left turn onto South Virginia Street right into the path of Brown who was headed southbound in the left lane, driving her 2001 Mercedes Benz.
According the NHP preliminary investigation, Brown applied the brakes in an effort to avoid the Jeep, but was unsuccessful and struck the left front of the Jeep. She suffered serious injuries and was transported to a Reno hospital where she later succumbed to the injuries she sustained in the crash.
Impairment is not suspected to be a contributing factor in this crash.
