South Lake Tahoe man arrested after allegedly murdering girlfriend

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Paul Hollingsworth, a 60-year-old South Lake Tahoe resident, has been arrested after confessing to a family member that he killed his live-in girlfriend.

South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD) received a phone call from that family member at 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, October 9. Officers then responded to the 3600 block of Aspen Avenue where they had to force their way into Hollingsworth's home. Once inside they found a 70-year-old local woman unconscious and not breathing. The officers initiated lifesaving measure as South Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue and Cal Tahoe JPA EMS Ambulance were summoned to the scene.

The woman was transported to Barton Memorial Hospital and later flown via Calstar Helicopter to Renown Hospital in Reno. She succumbed to her injuries Wednesday morning, October 10.

Hollingsworth was at a nearby business with the family member. SLTPD responded to that business and arrested Hollingsworth on charges of attempted murder and corporal injury on a spouse/cohabitant. He was booked into El Dorado County Jail. Bail has been set at $50,000 for the abuse charge and no bail at this time on the attempted murder charge.

Since the victim died after his arrest it is expected those charges will be changed to murder.
