Douglas County Sheriff's Deputies graduate from Law Enforcement Academy

Sheriff Ron Pierini has announced the recent graduation of two Douglas County Sheriff’s Deputies from the State of Nevada Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) Law Enforcement Academy.

Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Deputies Jose Guerra and Bruce Jacobsen graduated from the academy on Thursday, May 12 after attending the academy at the State of Nevada Stewart Training Facility in Carson City for four months.

During the academy the law enforcement cadets are instructed in such topics as: Federal, State and Local Laws, Laws of Search and Seizure, Laws of Arrest, Community Oriented Policing, Physical Fitness, Use of Force, Defensive Tactics, Handcuffing and Searching, Interpersonal Communication, Interview and Interrogation , Crime Scene Processing, Domestic Battery Investigation, Report Writing, Dispatch and Radio Procedure, Traffic Enforcement, Traffic Accident Investigation, Emergency Vehicle Operations, First Aid and Lifesaving Procedures, and a host of other law enforcement & public safety topics.

Deputy Jacobsen also earned the Top Gun Award for firearms marksmanship.

Deputy Guerra has been with DCSO since September 2014, and Deputy Jacobsen has been with DCSO since March 2015. Both have been working in the Jail Division since that time.
