Alumnus returns to the South Tahoe High gym to attempt his 500th career win

His framed photo still sits high on the wall of the gym at South Tahoe High, one that highlights his being awarded the 1983-84 MVP award for Northern Nevada high school basketball players.

Drew Hibbs lead the South Tahoe High basketball team back then, and now he is returning to his old stomping grounds as the coach of two-time California State basketball champion Foothill High School Mustangs, the Sacramento Bee Coach of the Decade, and a coach looking for his 400th career win.

Hibbs and his Foothill High team will be at South Tahoe High on Friday, November 27 for a 7:00 p.m. game on a court very familiar to Hibbs.

The South Tahoe High Vikings, under the guidance of coach Joby Cefalu, has five seniors and eight juniors on the team.

The seniors: Hirshal Patel 5'7", Denzel Perez 5'9", Ethan Strain 6'4", Joe Albrecht 6'10" and Blake Blocker 6'4".

The juniors: Harry Moses 6', Noah Jackson 5'8", Tommy Cefalu 6'3", Tyler Ritter 5'8", Dylan Gooding 5'10", Ridge Merkley 6'1", Zen Contestable 6'4" and Garret Harley 6'.

Friday night's game is a non-conference game. The next game up for the Vikings in on December 3 in Roseville, CA against the El Dorado Gold Dust.
