Outdoor movies in South Lake Tahoe on weekends in December

Ever think of watching movies outside during the winter in Lake Tahoe? Now is your opportunity to gather around the fire pits at The Crossing in South Lake Tahoe and watch holiday movies, ski and snowboard movie premieres, participate in fundraisers and have fun with raffle prizes, all part of the new Sierra Cinemas.

Starting Sunday, December 3, Sierra-at-Tahoe, FNCTN and Lake Tahoe AleworX start December off right with "The Polar Express." Its a free, community event in the courtyard at Lake Tahoe AleworX.

Movie Nights:

When: Sunday, 12/3 at 5:00 p.m.
Cause: Boys & Girls Club
Entertainment: “The Polar Express”
Synopsis: Tom Hanks stars in a 3D-animated inspiring adventure as a young boy taking an extraordinary train ride to the North Pole.

When: Saturday, 12/9 at 5:00 p.m.
Cause: Community Tree Lighting and The Crossing “Holiday Mall Crawl”
Entertainment: Double Feature (“Elf” and “This is Home” FACTION Ski Movie)
Synopsis: Will Ferrell “Buddy” was accidentally transported to the North Pole as a toddler and raised to adulthood among Santa's elves. Adult Buddy travels to New York, in full elf uniform, in search of his real father.

When: Saturday, 12/16 at 5:00 p.m.
Cause: Sierra Avalanche Dogs
Entertainment: “Supervention 2”
Synopsis: An exploration of the willpower and motivation it takes to conquer the risk and the fear of injuries in the world of skiing and snowboarding

When: Sunday, 12/23 at 5:00 p.m.
Cause: Boys & Girls Club
Entertainment: Double Feature (“The Grinch” and “Passenger”)
Synopsis: The reclusive green Grinch, Jim Carrey, decides to ruin Christmas for the cheery citizens of Whoville. However, the bitter grump finds a hitch in his plans when he encounters the holiday loving Cindy Lou Who.

“December 9th is extra special,” said Mike Peron of FNCTN, “We’ll start with the Holiday Mall Crawl featuring all shops in The Crossing joining together for exclusive specials and a large Christmas tree lighting in the common area, including the famous City of SLT fire truck and SWAT vehicles.”

Every weekend extends the opportunity to win a season pass to Sierra-at-Tahoe and a pair of Faction Skis for just a $2 donation/guess as to how many pennies are on the AleworX pizza oven. Other entertainment ranges from snow industry representative demos, special holiday activities, Ho Ho Ho contests, and friendly competitions like a pizza eating competitions.
