COVID-19 case update for Lake Tahoe area counties

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - El Dorado County health officials say another 35 residents have tested positive for COVID-19 since yesterday. Of those, 15 are in El Dorado Hills, 4 in Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue, 1 in Greater Placerville, 2 in Diamond Springs/El Dorado, 1 in Pollock Pines/Camino/Kyburz, 13 in Lake Tahoe region. There is one less awaiting address confirmation, awaiting address confirmation for 12.

One of those new cases, one is under the age of 18, 26 are aged 18-49, seven are aged 50-64, and one aged 65 or older.

Another 401 people were tested for the coronavirus and 366 negative tests results were received.

There have been another 34 assumed recoveries with 894 assumed active cases.

There are currently 15 COVID-19 patients hospitalized with three of them in the ICU and no suspected cases hospitalized.

To date there have been four deaths.

The county moved into the purple tier November 17.

The County dashboard shows cases by episode date, not by the date El Dorado County Public Health was notified about the new case. Episode date is the earliest of the following dates: (symptom onset date, diagnosis date, specimen collection date, date received, or date of death) and serves as the best approximation of the date of infection.

The 7-day positivity rate for El Dorado County is 9.1 percent positivity and the 14-day rate of new cases is 421 (+58) (these figures do not include today's data).

The Lake Tahoe region of the county is in the High Tier (case rate per 100,000 population over the previous 14 days of 100) and is joined there by El Dorado/Diamond Springs, Shingle Springs/Cameron Park/Rescue, El Dorado Hills, Placerville and now Pollock Pines/Camino/Kyburz and North County, South County is in the Moderate Tier (case rate per 100,000 population over the previous 14 days of 26-99). No region is in the low tier (25 or less per 100,000 for last 14 days).

Quad-Counties - Carson City, Douglas, Storey, Lyon

We are reporting 11 additional deaths due to COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region. The individuals were 7 Carson City residents, 1 Douglas County resident, and 3 Lyon County residents. We have received official death reports for these individuals signed by physicians or coroners stating COVID-19 as the leading cause of death. We do not report deaths prior to receiving the legal report to confirm the cause of death, which can be attributed to the increase in deaths reported today as it takes time for CCHHS to receive the report after the individual passes.

We are also reporting 144 new cases and 406 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region. This brings the total number of cases to 5,037, with 2,819 recoveries and 45 deaths; 2,173 cases remain active.

In Carson City there are currently 50 (+1) people hospitalized with 11 (-2) of them in the ICU. There is 1 suspected cases of COVID-19 in the hospital. 88 percent of ICU beds are currently occupied.

In Douglas County there are currently 8 (-1) people hospitalized with COVID-19 with 2 (12) of them in the ICU along with no suspected cases. 50 percent of ICU beds are occupied.

Washoe County

The Regional Information Center is reporting 815 new COVID-19 cases and eight new deaths in Washoe County since yesterday.

There have been 42 new cases of confirmed COVID-19 in Placer County since yesterday.

Lake Tahoe area cases - 71 (+0) are in Tahoe City, 180 (+6) in Kings Beach, 25 (+0) in Olympic Valley, 40 (+0) in Truckee, 19 (+0) in Carnelian Bay.

Their seven-day test rate is 5.8 percent positive, and average daily case rate for last 7 days is 21.2 per 100,000. Seven-day increase is 4.9 percent, 14-day increase is 16.5 percent.
