South Lake Tahoe woman dies from COVID-19, Go Fund Me set up to help with expenses

A South Lake Tahoe woman has become the 11th resident of El Dorado County to die from COVID-19. Elda Yadira Dueñas passed away at Barton Memorial Hospital on December 16, 2020.

Known as "Yadira," she was the mother of a South Tahoe High School student as well as being a loving wife, a faithful friend, and the light in many peoples' lives, and her loss is so very tragic for her family. She was part of the Family Resource Center, a school based non-profit organization that provides basic needs services, educational opportunities, family advocacy and bilingual counseling for children and adults.

Yadira's daughter Karla has started a GoFundMe account to help the family with medical expenses. She wrote the following letter to the community:

The Passing of our Beloved Mother Elda Yadira Dueñas
Dear Lake Tahoe community,

Many of you may have known my mother Elda Yadira Dueñas from the Family Resource Center or had the pleasure of knowing her from somewhere else in the community. My mother was always happy, strong, courageous, loving, and caring. Her family meant everything to her. She had a laugh and a sense of humor that could light up the room. Unfortunately, Elda Yadira Duenas, unexpectedly passed away on Wednesday, December 16th, 2020 at Barton Memorial Hospital due to the Coronavirus. We are reaching out to the community for financial assistance to help cover medical and funeral expenses. Our family has started a Go Fund Me account.
