South Lake Tahoe prepares for SnowGlobe - Important road closure and noise information

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Thousands of music fans and dozens of performers are headed to South Lake Tahoe for the 8th annual SnowGlobe Music Festival from December 29-31. Before they get here, hundreds of workers are spending many hours preparing the scene from the delivery and installation of stages, tents, electrical cables, ski jumps, trailers, vehicles and port-a-potties.

Thursday was the first 10:00 a.m. daily meeting of all involved including SnowGlobe management, City of South Lake Tahoe staff and law enforcement. They will continue to meet each day to discuss the status of the event, share information and address any concerns immediately.

Besides the South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD), the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC), El Dorado County Sheriff's Office (EDSO) and California Highway Patrol (CHP) will be at SnowGlobe. SLTPD and ABC work inside the event, EDSO covers the perimeter and CHP helps with perimeter security and helps with those that may get lost leaving or entering the event. South Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue will be there to provide support and RockMed staff will be stationed throughout the venue to help with medical needs should they arise.

Lt. David Stevenson will coordinate the agencies and Sgt. Russell Liles is in charge of the SLTPD response. SnowGlobe pays for EDSO and CHP to be there to support City crews.

"City staff is working closely with event organizers to address concerns and make sure this year’s festival is a success," said SLT Communication Manager Chris Fiore in a release.
