South Lake Tahoe ski, snowboard and weather report for Monday

The following is the ski, snowboard and weather report for Monday, December 28, 2015 for South Lake Tahoe brought to you by Lake Tahoe SkiBum.

Weather - South Lake Tahoe will have a high of 29 and a low of 12. Today: Snow showers, mainly before 4pm. High near 29. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming north in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible. Tonight: Isolated snow showers before 10pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 12. North wind around 5 mph becoming southeast after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Heavenly - Packed Powder. No New Snow (before 6 am) in last 24 hours. 98% of their terrain is now open which means 4700 acres, 27 lifts and 95 runs are open. The base depth is 60". Lift status. Snow showers, mainly before 4pm. High near 17. Breezy, with a west wind 15 to 25 mph becoming north in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 35 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total daytime snow accumulation of around an inch possible.

Message from Heavenly: We received a beautiful dusting of snow early this morning, giving the mountain a nice layer of fluff. Over the past 7 days, we have received 60". Today's forecast calls for more snow, with at least an inch of accumulation. Temperatures will remain in the teens with a high near 17°. Expect light-moderate winds with possible strong gusts. Please stay tuned for any updates but weather permitting; we will have 28 lifts spinning from 8:30am-4:00pm giving access to 95 runs, of which nearly 50% were freshly groomed overnight. Our groomers suggest Ridge Run in CA, and Bonanza in NV as their trail picks of the day!

Sierra-at-Tahoe - Powder/Packed Powder. 2" new snow. 11 lifts are open. Burton Progressive, Bashful and Upper Snowshoe pipes are open. Groomed conditions on 31 of their open 45 runs. Base depth is 48". Lift status. Snow showers likely, mainly before 10am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 23. West southwest wind around 6 mph becoming north in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 70%. Total daytime snow accumulation of around an inch possible.

Kirkwood - Packed Powder. No new snow. 100% of the mountain terrain is open with 2300 acres, 10 lifts and 86 runs. 65" base.Lift status. The base depth is 65". Mostly sunny, with a high near 33. Southwest wind 6 to 10 mph.

Facebook Message from Kirkwood: A perfect day to get up and out on the mountain today, we have all lifts scheduled for 9am… Terrain park crew making headway yesterday to get our Bandit terrain park open (located off of our Timber Creek Express lift) Bandit park will need a little more work but this team is working furiously to get Outlaw open mis amigos. Snow fall amounts look to be low with this storm with the base and ridge seeing an additional 1-3 inches throughout the day. Dry weather looks to set in after 10 PM Monday night and continue through Tuesday.
