Chili Cookoff and Fall Festival held Satuday

The 3rd Annual Fall Festival and Chili Cook Off is at the South Lake Tahoe Recreation Center Saturday, September 13 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
There will be live entertainment, a cake walk, raffles, vendors and a chili tastings as well as events for the whole family. Admission to the event is free. More information can be found on the website at www.goldenbearevents.com.
Local non-profits will benefit from the event. The South Tahoe Cancer League, Lion's Club, American Legion Post 795, Christmas Cheer and the Lake Tahoe Humane Society are among the recipients.

Visitors and locals alike will find a variety of activities to enjoy in South Lake Tahoe on Sunday, August 31.
The highlight of the day will be the Annual Labor Day Fireworks show. The show features a simultaneous music broadcast that can be heard on local stations KRLT-FM 93.9 and KOWL - AM 1490. Show begins at 8:30 p.m. The fireworks are visible from all over town.

Not only has the Tahoe Prosperity Center has been working on issues to create healthier communities around the lake, they have also been welcoming new members to their Board of Directors.
New to the board are locals John McLaughlin, Chief Financial Officer of Edgewood Companies and Ken Riley, Senior Vice President, Kiewit Infrastructure Group, Inc. They join 24 other community members on the board whose goal is to also promote regional sustainability through economic vitality and by being environmental stewards.

No, it's not Christmas yet, but its not too early for Tahoe Arts Project to start planning their annual Holiday Festival. They are looking for crafters and artists to fill booths for the two day event on November 15 and 16.
TAP had such a successful event last year that they've expanded it to two days and have opened signups for booth space. The festival also includes food, entertainment and a visit from Santa Claus.
They encourage all types of handmade goods and no imported items are permitted.

Offering picturesque lakefront entertainment, food and lodging, Zephyr Cove has something for everyone. We’d like to also thank local band Ike and Martin for providing the exceptional entertainment. Communities across the country are celebrating America's Independence Day and South Lake Tahoe is no different.
Thousands of visitors have come to town to enjoy fireworks, BBQs and family fun. There are many ways to celebrate Friday:
Head out to watch the 3rd Annual Fourth of July Parade at 10 a.m. Cars, trucks and other vehicles will set out from Les Schwab Tires at the Y and head down Highway 50 to the American Legion where there will be a BBQ. Sit along the street (the best views are on the same side of the street as the parade will be moving).

Throughout his lifetime, Ted Geisel created paintings and collected hats which he secreted away in a hidden closet at the Dr. Seuss Estate. High-flying adventure flicks and non-stop entertainment arrives with the 12th Annual Lake Tahoe Adventure Film Festival, Saturday, Dec. 14 at MontBleu Resort, Casino & Spa.
Rooted as the nerve center for skiers, boarders, climbers and year-round adventurers, the film festival provides mountaintops, cliffhangers and enough high-energy entertainment between showings to ignite fervor for the New Year. The night includes guest speakers, action photo displays, break-dancers, DJs and a handful of surprises.

Many know Hall of Fame Steelers Quarterback Terry Bradshaw as just that, a superstar football player. Others know Bradshaw for his entertaining commentary on football games from his commentator seat. While yet another group will know him from his acting in such movies as Cannonball Run and Hooper, television shows Las Vegas and Malcolm in the Middle and from singing with his daughter, country singer Rachel Bradshaw.

Stephen Ditchkus has been named the new General Manager of South Lake Tahoe's MontBleu Resort Casino & Spa. “Our plan is to combine the spectacular attractions of Lake Tahoe with the amenities of the property, with a focus on the gaming experience,” said Ditchkus. “It’s a great time to be back in Tahoe with the destination moving forward with all its improvements for visitors and locals, alike.”

American Century Golf Championship Distributes Over $145,000 to Local Non-Profits

Twenty-eight area nonprofits were awarded $85,000 in donations from the 2013 American Century Championship. In a ceremony on Thursday, the Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority distributed the checks through funds raised during the annual celebrity golf tournament.
