The competitive landscape of the American Century Championship in Lake Tahoe will dramatically alter in 2014 with the addition of LPGA great Annika Sorenstam.

The legendary golf superstar, winner of 89 international tournaments and over $22 million, is among the most successful players in history. A part-time resident of Lake Tahoe and mother of two, Sorenstam will play on even terms with pro athletes in the nationally televised, 54-hole, $600,000 competition at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course.

The Annual Boys & Girls Club of Lake Tahoe Spirit of Spring Fundraiser was held on Tuesday, May 13 at Edgewood Tahoe from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
All proceeds from this evening of food and wine will benefit the local kids -- helping them be great!

Guests were treated to name vintages, cordials and beer for the evening courtesy of Southern Wine and Spirits and appetizers buffet courtesy of Edgewood Tahoe.

The 25th Annual American Century Golf Championship which is played at South Lake Tahoe's Edgewood Tahoe is just 3 months away! This year's event takes place July 15 through July 20.

Discounted season pass tickets are now available for $50 which makes the daily ticket price just $8.33. The Lake Tahoe tournament is the No. 1 celebrity golf event in the country.

The American Century Championship is offering the specially priced Season Pass through May 31; beginning June 1 it’s $60.

As Edgewood Properties moves forward with their plans to reconfigure holes on their golf course to accommodate for a new lake front lodge, they asked the City of South Lake Tahoe City Council today for a change in the area's general plan. The original Edgewood Tahoe plans were to have 100% of the golf course in the state of Nevada, but have now altered those plans to have some of the course venture into California on Edgewood owned land.

RENO, Nev. (AP) — A Lake Tahoe-area man accused of bilking 11 investors out of $3.6 million in a fraudulent scheme to buy a Douglas County golf course has pleaded guilty to 24 federal charges, including wire fraud and money laundering.

U.S. Attorney Dan Bogden says 55-year-old Scott Summerhays of South Lake Tahoe, pleaded guilty Wednesday in federal court in Reno.

From 2008-10, prosecutors say Summerhays told potential investors he was purchasing Genoa Lakes Golf Club near Gardnerville for $17 million.

Dubbed the "All Star Panel," a group of long time local residents shared stories of a South Lake Tahoe most of us never experienced. The seven panelists have lived in Lake Tahoe a combined 600 plus years and shared some great stories with the overflowing crowd at Camp Richardson Lodge on Tuesday evening. It may not look like it today, but by Sunday the Bijou Dog Park Agility Course will have its grand opening. The official ribbon cutting ceremony will be at 1 pm on Sunday at Bijou Community Park.

Barton Foundation's 19th annual Golf Tournament and fundraiser held on Thursday, June 20 at the Lake Tahoe Golf Course raised more than $14,000 for Barton’s Community Health Endowment fund. The Hawaiian themed, “Tiki Tee Off and Lei Up Luau Golf Tournament hosted a field of 108 golfers and 160 luau attendees – complete with a roasted pig, raffle prizes and a performance by the Ukuleles of Tahoe.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in locating the person(s) responsible for the destruction of greens and fairways to the Glenbrook Golf Course on the east shore of Lake Tahoe on June 16.

According to Sgt. Pat Brooks, at around 1 a.m. someone entered onto greens, fairways and tee boxes with a motor vehicle at the Glenbrook Golf Course. The driver of the vehicle raced around the course and caused substantial damage.

More than $1.6 million in course improvements highlight the 45th season of Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course, set to open at Stateline, Lake Tahoe May 9.

A 10-year environmental plan meant to reduce impact and save water has been put in place with upgrades to the irrigation system as well as drought and stress tolerant grass. Other improvements include GPS devices on carts that feature yardage and video tips from pros.

The City of South Lake Tahoe opened the Bijou Golf Course for the season Monday, marking the earliest opening day in its history.

“We’ve never had the opportunity to open this early due to seasonal weather, so we are very excited to have these Spring conditions early in the year so that the golfers can start early,” said Parks Supervisor Greg Ross.

The golf course will remain open subject to weather closures for the rest of the season. Current residential rates are $15 for 9 holes and $12 for 9 holes at twilight.

As one of the most prominent figures in snowboarding and skateboarding, Shaun White has called Northstar California his home resort since 2011. The staff and golfing guests at Lake Tahoe Golf Course joined together on a community day at the golf course where all course fees collected went to support local non-profits. The Rotary Club of Tahoe Douglas was recently presented a check for $620 as a result of those donations.

Lake Tahoe planning leaders gave their approval Thursday to a paradigm changing project at the South Shore, which would allow for a high-end resort complex at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course, the site of the American Century Championship.
The governing board of the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency unanimously approved the Edgewood Tahoe Lodge and Golf Course realignment project that will make way for the 154-room lodge. Construction could begin in 2014, according to the Tahoe Daily Tribune.

Edgewood Companies' Edgewood Tahoe Lodge and Golf Course realignment project will reach one of possibly many finish lines on Thursday when its final environmental impact statement goes before the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency's governing board.
