Soroptimist International of South Lake Tahoe's 'An Evening of Food and Wine Tasting'

Event Date:
November 2, 2012 - 6:00pm

The Soroptimist International of South Lake Tahoe features the 43rd annual “An Evening of Food & Wine Tasting” on Friday, Nov. 2 at Harrah's Tahoe Convention Center. Enjoy incredible wine from Northern California’s top wineries and sample a wide variety of delicious appetizers, entrees and desserts from the South Shore’s finest restaurants.

“An Evening of Food & Wine Tasting” raises money to fund the many projects and programs sponsored by Soroptimist International of South Lake Tahoe. All proceeds are directed back into our community through educational scholarships, youth activity sponsorships and grants to organizations such as the Live Violence Free Center, Tahoe Youth and Family, the Lake Tahoe Boys and Girls Club, and numerous projects that enhance services and quality of life in our community. All participants must be at least 21 to attend.

Event attendees will have the opportunity to bid on a huge selection of fabulous items in our silent auction. The silent auction will again feature fine wine, jewelry and art as well as gift certificates for local restaurants, stores, hotels and professional services. Raffle tickets will also be offered for your choice of three exceptional prizes: Golf for 4 at Edgewood Golf course (value $800), a wine cellar with 20 bottles of premium wine (value $$1,000), and a beautiful hand-made queen size quilt by local artisan Bobbi Cole. The event will also feature the sale of flashing “bling rings” which will be used to raffle a high-value Grand Prize vacation package.

Each year, our club asks artists from around the Tahoe area to submit entries for our annual poster competition. This year, the poster competition was held in July. The winning entry was designed by local art student, Matt Kauffmann, and featured a surreal blue-violet scene with a moon sliver as the bowl of a wine glass over Lake Tahoe. Kaufmann described his original design as “radtastic” and says the recognition from Soroptimist is motivation to keep creating new work.

If you have any questions or would like to donate an item to next year’s event contact Gina Wyneken-Soares, Wine Tasting Chair at (530)541-9355.
