Freshly fallen snow will add to the holiday ambiance of events in South Lake Tahoe this weekend!

The Lake Tahoe Historical Society invites everyone to their annual Holiday in History Open House on Saturday and Sunday, December 7-8. On Saturday from 11 to 7 pm and Sunday from 11 am to 3 pm, visitors can tour the 1930s log cabin, view a Victorian holiday scene, enjoy free cider and cookies and children can even call the North Pole from a special antique phone! The event is free.

The Barton Foundation has been a cornerstone for The Barton Health Group for more than 20 years by providing excellent healthcare service to customers and also have been big players during the holiday season. This year’s Barton Festival of Trees and Lights will celebrate the 50th anniversary of Barton Health and Coldwell Banker Select will be contributing to the event in a major way. The franchise will be donating a gorgeous “sports themed” Christmas tree to the event, which will be auctioned off at the black tie gala event on December 7th.

Gregory Cremeans recently joined the Coldwell Banker Select office in Zephyr Cove and is already off to a great start. Gregory has achieved the Cartus Network Affinity Specialist (CNAS) certification. The certification recognizes top performance and service to clients, as well as meeting goals within the organization. Bob and Tammy Hassett, current operators of Camp Richardson and Meeks Bay Resort have been selected to run the concession at Round Hill Pines Resort according to Cheva Heck of the U.S. Forest Service. The current lease is held by the Forvilly family and is set to expire on December 31, 2013. Frank Forvilly has operated Round Hill Pines since 1971 and just found out yesterday that they weren't awarded the new contract.

Granlibakken Conference Center & Lodge at Lake Tahoe (http://www.Granlibakken.com) offers a Thanksgiving tradition that celebrates family and friends with a hearty holiday feast around the dinner table and boundless opportunities to work up an appetite or work off the satisfying dinner.

A hearty group of volunteers from Lake Tahoe Community College donated their time to Bread and Broth recently, helping to prepare and serve a hot meal to hungry locals as part of the Adopt a Day of Nutrition program. Four LTCC managers donned aprons and kitchen gloves to serve food, prepare giveaway bags, and assist with the cleanup.

She has earned the Certified International Property Specialist (CIPS) designation, a course developed by the Global Business and Alliances of the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) and taught by Jeni Temen of Coldwell Banker Select Real Estate.

South Lake Tahoe Police report that home and car burglaries are on the rise in the city. Unattended cars being warmed up on cold mornings are also tempting car thieves so caution is urged at home and with vehicles.

Lt. Brian Willians of the SLTPD is advising residents that a warming up car left alone is a tempting invitation to a thief. Keep cars locked when parked and don't leave home windows and doors unlocked and open.

During the week of October 23 to 30 there was 1 auto theft and 6 burglaries in the city limits. Since September 19 the SLTPD has responded to 15 auto theft calls.

Coldwell Banker Select in Reno has more recognition under its belt with one of their agents earning a very prestigious designation in the real estate industry. Kathy Williams, of the McCarran office, has earned the impressive title of Previews Property Specialist for the Coldwell Banker Previews International® division, an enormous milestone in the world of real estate. Scientists today presented research findings and recommendations to the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency Governing Board that address Lake Tahoe’s aquatic nearshore environment and the heightened interest in understanding factors contributing to its apparent deterioration.

Tahoe Youth and Family Services is hosting their Annual Evening of Giving on December 11 at the agency's offices at 1021 Fremont Avenue in South Lake Tahoe. Refreshments will be served at the event which is from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm.

‘Tis the season to Empower Tahoe: the Tahoe Regional Young Professionals’ (www.tahoetryp.org) Annual Winter White FUNdraiser returns on Saturday, Nov. 23, from 6:30 - 10 p.m. at the Riva Grill in South Lake Tahoe. The themed holiday party supports TRYP’s professional development programs like workshops and scholarships, while also raising funds for the Boys & Girls Club of South Lake Tahoe. The theme is the color white so all attendees are encouraged to wear white!

The South Lake Tahoe Friends of the Library are currently accepting donations of books and audio/visual materials for their upcoming book sale. They would greatly appreciate materials only in good condition and with a copyright date no earlier than 2000. Especially needed are recent children’s books and children’s DVDs, as well as recent materials in Spanish. The group would also like to limit audio/visual donations to DVDs & books on Tape/CD.

Coldwell Banker Select Real Estate in conjunction with Stanford Mortgage and First American Title Company had a tremendous turnout for their recent Luxury Home Tour event in the Reno area. REALTORS® and other Real Estate Professionals were invited to go on a tour of four luxury Coldwell Banker listings and to gain insight into the world of luxury home sales. The tour was organized by Melanie Stewart, Director of Luxury Marketing and spearheaded by Dena Hospodka, Managing Broker for Coldwell Banker Select.

A new Board of Directors was elected at the TahoeChamber ’s October 15 board meeting. The board reflects the local business community in that it is comprised of small businesses, professionals, healthcare, gaming and resort representatives. The El Dorado County Sheriff's Office patrol boat and search and rescue volunteers responded to the call of kayakers in distress on Lake Tahoe's wind whipped waters on October 3. In a report released today, Sgt. Steve Fleischmann of EDCSO reported that they received a call saying that multiple kayakers were in the water and needed help near Camp Richardson. When the rescue team arrived they found two kayakers in the water, two overturned kayaks and an additional kayaker still in his boat attempting to assist the others.

The, members of the fire-based Multi-Agency Coordinating Group (MAC) and the Tahoe Fire and Fuels Team (TFFT), expressed appreciation for the joint Proclamation issued by the Governors of Nevada and California prior to the 17th annual Lake Tahoe Summit held in August.

This event, spearheaded by a group of local motorcycle enthusiasts, is one of the largest fund raisers for Christmas Cheer in South Lake Tahoe. Christmas Cheer is a non-profit organization, dedicated to providing food to needy family's year around, and Christmas toys to underprivileged children in our community.
