The lakeside summer concert series in South Lake Tahoe, Live and Lakeview, celebrates their 50th show on Thursday, August 18 with two bands starting at 4:30 p.m.

This free concert is presented by On Course Events and the City of South Lake Tahoe.

Funk band Swamp Zen gets the party started from 4:30 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. and they'll be followed by Gypsy Rock band Diego's Umbrella who take the stage from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

The weather is starting to clear and temperatures are warming up, just in time for the Memorial Day weekend. Don't forget, when you are coming or going from the Lake Tahoe Basin, check out the Caltrans message board at http://quickmap.dot.ca.gov/. Click on "Options" and "message boards." 968 Park Hotel is going to have a craft beer tasting event on Saturday August 15th at 5 p.m. at their outdoor pool facility which features a bar, stage and cabanas. The craft beer tasting will be followed by the much anticipated return of San Francisco’s Dirty Cello. Both events are free to the public.

Enjoy a Tahoe afternoon on the lawn at the historic Valhalla on Sunday, August 2 when the Sacramento band, Richie Lawrence and the Yolos perform.

Rain or shine, the concert will go on. If it rains, all will be moved indoors to the Boathouse Theater. This will be the last in Valhalla's FREE Concert on the Lawn series which is part of the Valhalla Art, Music & Theatre Festival.

The band is a mix of jazz, French folk and country, with original music.

Bring your beach chairs and lunch and enjoy music on the lawn.

Lake Tahoe Dance Connection (LTDC) brings in professional dancers and choreographers for a weekend of dance, top instruction and fun at Lake Tahoe Community College.

The second annual Lake Tahoe Dance Connection will consist of a camp, August 12 – 14, and a Dance Intensive Weekend, August 15-16.

For the full summer dance experience, it is recommended that you enroll in both the Dance Camp and Intensive Weekend; however, registration is available for just one class, one day or either event. LTDC is open to a variety of age groups and levels, although dance experience is necessary.

Boot stomping to bluegrass in a 1920’s boat house turned theater with Lake Tahoe in the background, kicking back at free concerts on a historic lakeshore estate’s grand lawn, and experiencing the Washoe tribe’s ceremonial dances and drumming are some of the many iconic experiences at Lake Tahoe’s Valhalla Arts, Music & Theatre Festival this July.

Lake Tahoe’s 36th annual Valhalla Arts, Music & Theatre Festival opens June 17 at the historic lakefront Heller Estate (Valhalla) on the South Shore. Exclusive “one night only” performances will deliver a high caliber lineup of music and dance performances to Lake Tahoe’s arts and culture scene. Master Scottish Fiddler, Alasdair Fraser, will strike the first chord of the summer festival in Valhalla’s celebrated Boathouse Theater with Lake Tahoe as the backdrop, in a rare and highly anticipated solo performance.

Pioneers in the progressive bluegrass scene, Greensky Bluegrass headlines the inaugural Lake Tahoe Bluegrass Festival on Saturday, July 11 as part of the BaseJam Summer 2015 Outdoor Concert Series at the new Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Lake Tahoe outdoor arena.

A free Handbell Concert by Tintabulations, a community handbell ensemble from Reno. This talent group will present their concert series entitled “How The West Was Rung”, an homage to the ensemble's home state of Nevada in celebration of its Sesquicentennial. Classical, jazz and pop tunes are all part of the concert, as well as impressive original works for bells written by some of the nation’s foremost handbell composers. Performing on 120 bells and chimes, the 15 musicians that comprise Tintabulations prove that bell ringing can be entertaining year round and not just at the holiday season.

Finishing touches are being put on the new Cold Water Brewery & Grill as General Manager Debbie Brown prepares to open this weekend.

Months have been spent remodeling the former Swiss Chalet Restaurant, installing beer brewing equipment, brewing beer, developing a menu and creating a new South Lake Tahoe experience.

The year was 1914. Charlie Chaplin appears in his first movie. Ford Motor Company announces an 8 hour work day and a wage for employees of $5/day. Woodrow Wilson is President and Babe Ruth makes his major league debut. November 12th of that year was when Jean Dahlinger of South Lake Tahoe was born.

Today, 100 years later, Jean celebrated her 100th birthday at the Barton Mountain Cafe with family, friends and community members. Known as "The Dancing Machine," Jean was serenaded by the South Tahoe High Jazz Band as they played "Happy Birthday" and "America the Beautiful."

Each year, during the second weekend of August, the lawns and buildings at the historic Baldwin and Pope Estates turn back the clocks to a time of jazz, prohibition, prosperity and innovation.

The annual Gatsby Festival will be held at Tallac Historic Site August 9-10. Those that attend the free event will find vintage cars, games, music, Maytag clothes washer demonstrations, a speakeasy, tours and vendors with food and vintage clothing. The popular afternoon tea on Sunday is already sold out.

Are you looking for a way to enjoy your Sunday afternoons? The "Jazz & Beyond: Carson City Music Festival" is offering free concerts in the Legislative Plaza between the State Capitol and the Legislature Building in Carson City on three Sundays: Aug. 3, Aug. 10, and Aug. 17, 2014. "Jazz & Beyond" is a yearly festival put on by the Mile High Jazz Band Assoc. and its sponsors. People can enjoy these family friendly "Jazz Picnics in Park" concerts in a pleasant atmosphere with shade trees and a bit of Nevada history.

The "Jazz & Beyond: Carson City Music Festival" is excited to present a "Jump-Jive" dance party on Saturday, August 9, 2014, from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. in the historic Ballroom in the Brewery Arts Center, 449 W. King Street. This Speakeasy Dance Party celebrates music, dance, and art. Tickets are $10 and admission includes light refreshments, a no-host bar, the killer seven-piece band Brass Knuckles, original artwork, and prizes. All are welcome; those age 21 and over need to bring an ID. Doors open at 7:00 p.m., and the dance band plays from 8:00 to 10:00 p.m.

The 2014 "Jazz & Beyond - Carson City Music Festival" will open with a "Mad Hatter Garden Party," a ticketed event in the backyard of the Nevada Governor's Mansion, on Friday, August 1, from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. The gate opens at 5:00 p.m., and the show starts at 5:30 p.m. The party features music by the Corky Bennett Trio, finger foods by Carson City Confections, wine, beer, and a raffle. The Governor's Mansion is at 606 Mountain St., Carson City, and entrance is by the Robinson St. entrance.

The Lake Tahoe Community College hosts an evening of food, wine and world class entertainment at their summer event, The Taste of Gold. It will be held in the Demonstration Garden at the Ledbetter Terrace on Saturday, July 12 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

it is a great event held on a perfect summer evening and is Tahoe's BEST outdoor wine and food party! All proceeds benefit the LTCC Foundation, which supports student scholarships and academic programs.
