SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. — Due to concerns about the spread of COVID-19 in our community, the Lake Tahoe Community College Foundation is hosting its annual Taste of Gold fundraiser as a virtual event this year through July 18. Funds raised from this event support the Lake Tahoe College Promise program that provides up to three years of tuition-free college for eligible students of all ages, a free textbook lending library, and the Lake Tahoe Community College Food Pantry, which provides crucial nutrition and personal hygiene products to LTCC’s neediest students.
Tahoe Parents Nursery School to have permanent home at Lake Tahoe Community College
Submitted by paula on Mon, 06/15/2020 - 11:37amSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - After nearly 61 years in existence, the Tahoe Parents Nursery School (TPNS) will finally have a permanent home in South Lake Tahoe. It will be located on the campus of Lake Tahoe Community College (LTCC).
LTCC is hosting a small group of physically distanced dignitaries and campus leaders to help break ground and usher in the new Early Learning Center on Wednesday, June 17 at 3:00 p.m. This event will be live-streamed at www.ltcc.edu/measuref.

Lake Tahoe College Promise, the free tuition program at Lake Tahoe Community College (LTCC), is expanding from one year to three years starting Fall 2019.

Submitted by paula on Sun, 10/21/2018 - 5:56pmSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Continuing their mission to treat the Lake Tahoe area as one community, and thanks to some key donations, Lake Tahoe Community College (LTCC) is now offering the Lake Tahoe College Promise tuition program around the lake on both sides of the state line.
All first-time college students, including those who earned college units while still in high school, can get their tuition waived. To be eligible, students must be enrolled in and complete 12 or more units each quarter for three academic quarters, and meet one of the following requirements:
$126,000 in scholarships being awarded to 81 LTCC students

The 2017/2018 academic year was a record-breaking year of scholarship fundraising for the LTCC Foundation, with generous donors supporting the granting of 120 awards amounting to more than $126,000.

ADVANCE is a collaborative network of local businesses, government offices and the K-12 LTUSD which offers the free instruction to local residents. In addition to helping adults improve their earning skills, the ADVANCE program wanted to help locals have access to a hot, nutritious meal by sponsoring a Bread & Broth Monday Meal.
LTCC Rock Ensemble to "Rock Out For Cancer" at fundraiser

A special benefit concert is being held at the Lake Tahoe Community College (LTCC) Duke Theater on Wednesday, December 14 at 7:00 p.m. to raise money to help a local woman battling aggressive brain cancer.
Students in the school's Rock Ensemble classes will hit the stage for an evening of classic rock n’ roll hits, some gospel, some country, and a little bit of heavy metal to raise funds for the Angie Peart Cancer Fund.
Angie Peart, who herself is a rock student herself, is the wife of the LTCC reprographics/phone operator Bob Peart. She has been battling brain cancer since 2015.

Higgs boson and gravity to be topic at LTCC physics talk

While the topic may seem heavy, Dr. James Brau will explain the recent discoveries in physics in easy-to-understand terms.
Scholarship fund created in honor of South Lake Tahoe's Mitch Underhill
Submitted by paula on Mon, 01/18/2016 - 11:59amIt's been almost two-and-a-half years since South Lake Tahoe native Mitch Underhill died unexpectedly at the age of 34. The firefighter/paramedic with Lake Valley Fire Protection District was passionate not only about his family and career, but for the mountains and community he left behind.
In his memory, the Mitch Underhill Mountain Fund has been created at Lake Tahoe Community College.
"He was so loved in the community," said his widow Sarah. "He was an inspiration."

LTCC hires Nancy Harrison as new Foundation Chair

After completing the interview process, the Foundation directors and LTCC Superintendent/President Dr. Kindred Murillo selected Nancy Harrison for the position.
