LTCC Foundation's rundraiser Taste of Gold goes virtual

Event Date:
July 13, 2020 (All day)

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. — Due to concerns about the spread of COVID-19 in our community, the Lake Tahoe Community College Foundation is hosting its annual Taste of Gold fundraiser as a virtual event this year through July 18. Funds raised from this event support the Lake Tahoe College Promise program that provides up to three years of tuition-free college for eligible students of all ages, a free textbook lending library, and the Lake Tahoe Community College Food Pantry, which provides crucial nutrition and personal hygiene products to LTCC’s neediest students.

“Our students are struggling to find housing, food, and employment like never before,” said LTCC Foundation Executive Director Nancy Harrison. “In the best of times, college is difficult for many members of our community who juggle work, child care, and education. We are in unprecedented times now, and our students need that support more than ever.”

To support these causes and help students meet their basic needs and attend college successfully, donors can make online contributions that automatically enter them into a drawing. Donors can win gift cards to some of their favorite Tahoe restaurants, along with locally produced beers, wines, gift baskets with artisan and specialty items, and much more. Receive an entry for each donation of $25 made by visiting www.ltcc.edu/tasteofgold and clicking the “DONATE” button.

Winners will be drawn each day from July 13-July 17 at 12:00 p.m. Visit LTCC’s Facebook page (facebook.com/LakeTahoeCommunityCollege) to watch the daily live drawings and find out if you won! Donations can also be made via check with “Taste of Gold” written in the notes line, mailed to the LTCC Foundation, One College Drive, South Lake Tahoe, CA, 96150.

In addition to the daily drawings, the LTCC Foundation is also hosting an online Taste of Gold Silent Auction featuring beautiful art by LTCC teacher and renowned Western artist Phyllis Shafer, a Vail Resorts local season pass, a Napa Vineyards vacation, golf and spa getaways, and lots more. To bid on items, visit https://www.accelevents.com/e/ltcc.

Donations to the LTCC Foundation will help shore up the Lake Tahoe College Promise program, which many incoming high school seniors participate in to get the financial, academic, and advisory help they need to succeed. The Promise program is available to any first-time, full-time college student regardless of age from anywhere in California, or from the Nevada side of the Tahoe Basin. The program is available to Dreamers on both sides of the border as well. Taste of Gold proceeds will also go toward student scholarships, which provide free financial support to LTCC’s hardest-working, highest-achieving students. The Foundation also provides funding for new classroom equipment and experiential learning opportunities to enhance LTCC’s student experience.

The LTCC Foundation wishes to thank its generous Taste of Gold sponsors who are supporting LTCC’s students: at the sold gold level, the Tahoe Culinary Academy at LTCC Powered by ADVANCE, and at the 24 Karat level, Integral Networks Inc., US Bank, and Wells Fargo.
