The Marine Light Attack Helicopter Training and Open House for the U.S. Marine Corps Squadron 303 has been postponed due to being deployed on a mission. A future date has not been scheduled at this time.

The USMS had previously been scheduled to be in South Lake Tahoe on a thirteen day training mission July 27 – August 8.

Future pilots for the U.S. Marine Corps Cobra and Huey helicopter fleets will get their training in skies above South Lake Tahoe during a 13-day training mission between July 27 and August 8.

South Lake Tahoe is the optimal training location for the Marine Light Attack Helicopter Training Squadron 303 out of Camp Pendleton, CA. The high altitude will better prepare the Marines for future missions, such as the recent humanitarian relief efforts in the mountains of Nepal.

Join the City of South Lake Tahoe as they celebrate the city's 50th Anniversary!

As part of the year long celebration, the South Lake Tahoe Police Department will be hosting an open house at the police department located at 1352 Johnson Blvd. on Thursday, June 11th from 3 p.m.- 7 p.m. in honor of the City’s 50th Anniversary. Children are welcome and will enjoy static displays and talk to officers assigned to special teams such as K9 and SWAT.

There are also special giveaway items for all who attend. We look forward to seeing you there!

Tot to Tot, a gently-used children’s clothing, toy and equipment store, recently celebrated two years in business in South Lake Tahoe. To celebrate this occasion, owner Erin Elliott invites the community to a ribbon cutting and open house on June 2 beginning at 4:30 p.m.

Elliott first realized the need for quality used children’s items in Tahoe when she became a mother five years ago. With little luck finding affordable children’s items in the South Shore, Elliott yearned for the prices and quality found in gently-used clothing and equipment stores in larger cities.

In honor of National Emergency Medical Services Week, the South Lake Tahoe Fire Department invites the community to an “Open House” on Saturday, May 23rd from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Fire Station #3 located at 2101 Lake Tahoe Blvd.

There will be CPR demonstrations, food and information about the EMS Services the City provides.

- Many children go undiagnosed and unidentified; they are penalized for inappropriate behavior though symptomatic.
- 42% of diagnosed students graduate with a high school diploma.
- 48% of diagnosed students drop out of school.
- 50% will serve jail time after leaving school; 20% serve sentences prior to leaving school.
- Currently 12 % of children in America under the age of 18 have a diagnosable
mental illness.
- Among the US population, mental illness impacts 1 in 4 individuals.
- 50% of adult cases of mental illness had signs and symptoms by age 14.

The public is welcome to an Open House and Movie at El Dorado County Mental Health’s South Lake Tahoe Wellness Center on Wednesday, May 13 – 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at their office located at 1900 Lake Tahoe Blvd in South Lake Tahoe.

Not only are eight South Lake Tahoe Police Department employees being honored during a ceremony on Thursday, May 14, two K9s will be officially sworn in.

The annual ceremony is held in conjunction with National Peace Officer’s Memorial Week. This year, the awards will be given during part of the City of South Lake Tahoe's 50th Anniversary celebration.

AAUW – South Lake Tahoe will host a “Meet and Greet” Open House on Thursday, May 7 from 3-5 pm at the Creekside Room at Lake Tahoe Community College. At this informal drop-in event, guests will have the opportunity to learn about the organization’s programs, interest groups, and sponsorship of various educational opportunities for local students. Refreshments will be served.

Caltrans will be working on Highway 89 in South Lake Tahoe from the "Y" to Cascade Road, north of Camp Richardson and they are holding an open house about the project on Wednesday.

The South Lake Tahoe community to the informational meeting on Wednesday, April 1 at South Tahoe High School in the Student Union Conference Rooms. The school is located at 1735 Lake Tahoe Blvd. The student Union is located in the middle of the campus just beyond the back of the gyms.

Caltrans staff will be on hand to answer questions about the project.

Transitional Kindergarten / Kindergarten parent visitation day at Tahoe Valley Elementary School, 943 Tahoe Island Drive will be on Tuesday, February 24 from 10:30. a.m. -11:30 a.m.

The City of South Lake Tahoe is planning a party like no other as the city celebrates their 50th anniversary in 2015. While the official date of the anniversary is November 30, there will year long activities planned throughout the community.

Volunteers are needed to do this right. Committees are needed for the following areas:

1) Open House committee
2) Time capsule and treasure hunt event committee
3) Float/Homecoming committee
4) Dinner event committee
5) Invitation committee
6) Book committee

The South Lake Tahoe Fire Department hosted their first annual open house on October 11th in recognition of National Fire Prevention week. Visitors toured all three fire stations and learned about the importance of having and checking smoke detectors, hands only CPR, using a fire extinguisher and also completed a passport card for entry into a grand prize drawing for of a dinner for four prepared by the firefighters. The Gower family of Eric, Jamie, Rowen, and Abby were the winners of the Open House dinner.

In 1998 the Washoe Tribe was awarded a 20 year special use permit by the US Forest Service to operate the Meeks Bay Resort. At that time their plans to keep it a family friendly vacation spot on the shores of Lake Tahoe.

Learn about prescribed burns at a South Lake Tahoe open house hosted by the Tahoe Fire and Fuels Team. Team members will be on hand to answer questions about how the agencies plan and implement prescribed fire in the Lake Tahoe basin.

The Open House will be held on Wednesday, November 12, 2014, from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Forest Supervisor’s office at 35 College Drive, South Lake Tahoe, Calif. Participating agencies include the Forest Service, CAL FIRE, Nevada Division of Environmental Protection, and Tahoe Douglas and Lake Valley fire protection districts.

The South Lake Tahoe Parks, Trails and Recreation Master Plan will be unveiled to the public at an Open House on Thursday, September 25 at 7 p.m. at the SLT Recreation Center.

This is an opportunity for everyone to view the plan, share ideas on the recommendations within the plan as well as ask questions.

The Recreation Mater Plan has been in front of local citizens, community groups and staff for the past several months, and now their ideas and suggestions has formulated a Draft Master Plan that can now be reviewed.

The Plan is intended to provide strategic guidance for the management, improvement and development of City and County parks, in conjunction with the recreation opportunities provided by other public and private entities in the South Shore.

Stop by Live Violence Free and meet their new Executive Director, Jane Flavin. She and her staff will be sharing all of the new additions at the agency during the open house.

Live Violence Free is located at 2941 Lake Tahoe Blvd in South Lake Tahoe (near the intersection with Al Tahoe Blvd). The event runs from noon to 1:30 p.m.

THIS EVENT HAS BEEN POSTPONED. Pedego Electric Bikes is celebrating the summer with an open house and ribbon cutting officiated by TahoeChamber. If you have yet to check out the innovative bikes offered by Pedego, stop by their location next to the new Chateau at 4 p.m. on July 25.

The Lake Tahoe Humane Society and SPCA thanks South Lake Tahoe for the great turn out at their open house and ribbon cutting on February 25, 2014 in honor of “World Spay Day”. TahoeChamber was present to officiate the ribbon cutting and Mayor Hal Cole cut the ribbon. It was a great turn out and a good start in the Lake Tahoe Humane Society’s mission to let the community learn about all their fantastic services, such as spay and neuter vouchers, emergency pet medical care assistance and an emergency pet food bank.

During the winter of 1960, athletes from around the world came to Lake Tahoe to participate in the Winter Olympic Games. The biathlon and cross country events were held in what is now Sugar Pine Point State Park. A celebration of the area's snow heritage begins Saturday with a series of events to showcase makes the region so special.

Freshly fallen snow will add to the holiday ambiance of events in South Lake Tahoe this weekend!

The Lake Tahoe Historical Society invites everyone to their annual Holiday in History Open House on Saturday and Sunday, December 7-8. On Saturday from 11 to 7 pm and Sunday from 11 am to 3 pm, visitors can tour the 1930s log cabin, view a Victorian holiday scene, enjoy free cider and cookies and children can even call the North Pole from a special antique phone! The event is free.

There will be a community meeting and open house to discuss the Meyers Area Plan on Wednesday, Sept. 11, from 6 to 9 p.m. in the dining hall of the CCC, 1949 Apache Ave., in Meyers.

This Sunday, August 4, is the Annual Open House at Lake Tahoe Wildlife Care from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

This is the one opportunity of the year that the public is allowed to pass beyond our fenced area and see the cages and animals which are in rehabilitation.
