SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Nine weeks into the COVID-19 crisis, Bread & Broth is still providing food to those in the community who are being impacted by the loss or reduction of income due to the temporary closing of many of our communities’ businesses. Thanks to many generous monetary donors and volunteers, Bread & Broth is providing bags of food through their Monday and Friday food bag giveaway program at Grace Hall and B&B 4 Kids program.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - As one would expect in South Lake Tahoe, the community has been coming together to help others during these trying times and uncertainty.

Base Camp Pizza has been one of those businesses that have helped out the community. On Friday they dropped off 120 pizzas, 75 salads and 100 pasta dishes to Bijou Community School for families there who were picking up kids' homework and other supplies to use for at-home study. Local girl scouts donated boxes of cookies to hand out.

Harrah’s/Harveys’ HERO members who volunteered at Bread & Broth’s dinner on October 21 came prepared to work hard, and that they did. They made sure the evening’s diners were warmly welcomed, served heaping portions of baked penne pasta, Caesar salad and sautéed zucchini, and given ‘food giveaway’ bags and ‘leftover to go’ before they left.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - It isn't every day that 7-year-old Rocco DeFranco begins his day with a ride to Freel Perk for a cup of hot chocolate with Principal Joe Dameral before heading to Lake Tahoe Environmental Science Magnet School (LTESM) to begin his day.

And that was just the beginning of a day that wasn't a normal one for the first grader.

During the school's recent Spring Fling Pasta Dinner fundraiser, Rocco bid on an interesting silent auction item to be Principal for a Day. He spent his savings of $180 on that special day and Rocco was able to collect his prize on May 3.

On Monday, January 28, Bread & Broth’s 102 dinner guests were treated to a very special dinner. Members of St. Theresa’s Filipino community cooked and served chicken adobo, sweet and sour pork ribs, shrimp and chicken pasta, honey mustard chicken, steamed vegetables, rice, and salad. All delicious Filipino specialty dishes. In addition, to the heaping first servings dished out, many of the diners came back for seconds and containers filled with ‘leftovers’ to take home.

Thanks to Vail’s EpicPromise Grant funding, Heavenly Mountain Resort hosts six Bread & Broth Adopt A Day of Nourishments annually. Heavenly’s sixth and final AAD for 2018 was sponsored on December 10th and their $300 sponsorship donation went towards serving a fantastic Greek themed dinner. B&B’s talented volunteer cooks whipped up Greek chicken, a Greek pasta salad, broccoli, and a beautiful Greek salad to be served by the Heavenly sponsor volunteers to the very happy dinner guests.

For seven years the South Lake Tahoe Moose Lodge 1632 has supplied boxes of food supplies for local families in need, and this year will be no different.

This week, members of the lodge will deliver 50 decorated boxes, each packed full of a ham, vegetables, canned goods, pasta, potatoes, bread, tortillas and everything else needed to feed a family a big holiday meal, and then more for leftovers.

This year's recipients will be selected by the Family Resource Center.

Celebrate the upcoming mountain bike season in Lake Tahoe at the TAMBA (Tahoe Area Mountain Biking Association) Spring Party this Friday, May 19, 2017 at the Heavenly Mountain Resort California Base Lodge starting at 6:00 p.m.

All ages are invited to this free, family-friendly event that will include the showing of an UnREAL bike film, raffles, pasta dinner and information about all their 2017 projects. A membership drive is also being held and those interested can sign up at the event.

For the past six years, members of the South Lake Tahoe Moose Lodge have been providing meals for the less fortunate members of the community. What began as a small project with members filling up 15 boxes of food has grown into a much larger project with 50 families receiving the meals this holiday season.

Moose Lodge 1632 is asking for help from the community to fill these boxes. They are seeking donations of food to supplement the food boxes being prepared for distribution to needy families in the South Lake Tahoe area.

The weather is starting to clear and temperatures are warming up, just in time for the Memorial Day weekend. Lake Tahoe Summer Kick Off Car and Bike Show at the Heavenly Village

Tahoe Best Friends owner Paige Rice has a big heart not only for all of the family pets that she and her team at Tahoe Best Friends train and care for but also for those less fortunate members of our community who are in need of a helping hand. On Monday February 1st, Paige sponsored an “Adopt A Day of Nourishment” dinner held by Bread & Broth at St. Theresa Grace Hall. Paige brought Tahoe Best Friends’ employees Allison Brilliant and Maureen Stuhlman and friend and customer Judy Arnold to spend their evening helping at Paige’s sponsorship dinner.

The South Tahoe High Sober Grad Night Task Force would like to thank the following businesses and individuals who helped make our annual event for the graduating seniors such a success! The kids loved the evening and it couldn't have been made possible if you weren't a part of it.

The Seniors at Kelly Ridge Senior Affordable Housing Community in South Lake Tahoe will be presenting their first rundraiser at Primo’s Italian Restaurant on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Tickets on sale now for $11.00 each which includes one pasta dish with a choice of one of three Primo’s famous family sauces. The fundraiser proceeds benefit the seniors at Kelly Ridge Affordable Housing Community by providing them with a benevolent fund to access when there is a special need.

A record-breaking 100 businesses will participate in the 2014 Business EXPO –“Tahoe South in ACTION” this Friday, March 28. The event begins at 4:30pm and continues until 8:30pm in Harrah’s Lake Tahoe Convention Center. It will highlight South Shore businesses’ goods and services to an anticipated crowd of 1,200 attendees.

Justin, Lauren and their crew invite you to stop by for drinks and a sampling of their specialty pizzas on Wed, Nov. 6th from 4-6pm for their one-year anniversary ribbon cutting. Justin & Lauren Gresh met in Laguna Beach and were married a few years later. They had an idea of what they wanted their life to look like together. They wanted to own and operate a small business where they could incorporate their love of the outdoors, bicycling, community and great NY style pizza, all in one.

Sierra Resort at Lake Tahoe is proud to maintain their tradition of supporting the community this holiday season and donate canned food to The Food Bank of El Dorado County. Titled CANucopia, Sierra Resort is encouraging guests to bring canned non-perishable foods such as canned soup, dried pasta, crackers, and pasta sauce to the collection bin located at the base of the mountain next to the season pass office until January 12, 2013.

The first Cash Mob to hit South Lake Tahoe will be held on Thursday, August 23rd at Primo’s Italian Bistro, from 12-2pm. The idea of a Cash Mob is simple: get as many people together at the same place & time to infuse money into a particular local business, in turn supporting the local economy.
