SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Thousands of music fans and dozens of performers are headed to South Lake Tahoe for the 8th annual SnowGlobe Music Festival from December 29-31. Before they get here, hundreds of workers are spending many hours preparing the scene from the delivery and installation of stages, tents, electrical cables, ski jumps, trailers, vehicles and port-a-potties.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - `With holiday travelers and a Winter Weather Advisory both headed to Lake Tahoe, expect delays on the roads.
On I80 near Donner Lake westbound traffic is at a dead stop as drivers head towards chain controls and snow. As of 11:00 a.m. Monday the controls are in place from Kingvale to the Donner Lake interchange with those expected to expand as the storm enters the region.

It's time to secure those Christmas decorations, especially those of the inflatable variety, as it will be a windy one around Lake Tahoe and Northern Nevada on Friday, December 14.
A wind advisory is in place from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Winds will be widespread from the south 25 to 35 mph with gusts to 50 mph. Gusts to 65 mph in wind prone areas and Sierra ridges will likely see gusts over 100 mph.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - It was a normal day of skiing in South Lake Tahoe on Friday, December 7, 2018 for a couple from Oakland, California. They had parked their car on the top floor of the five-story parking garage at Heavenly Village, left their two dogs Titan and Comet inside and hit the slopes for three hours.

South Lake Tahoe Olympians Jamie Anderson, Hannah Teter and Maddie Bowman are headed for the mountains of Colorado as they take center stage at the annual winter Dew Tour ski and snowboard competition and festival in Breckenridge, Colo. December 13-16, 2018.
After last year's Dew Tour serving as an Olympic Qualifying event, fans and athletes will see the upcoming event creatively showcase its unique and progressive competitions, including the Modified Superpipe Presented by Toyota, Slopestyle, Adaptive Banked Slalom Presented by Toyota, Streetstyle and Team Challenge events.

Vail Resorts gives $1.9M to 93 Tahoe-Truckee area nonprofits

LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - During their annual community grant EpicPromise celebration, 93 local nonprofits were awarded a total of $1.9 million in cash as well as additional in-kind product support. Across the company, Vail Resorts will give $11.4 million in support to more than 250 community non-profits over the upcoming year.
Each year Vail gives away money and product to groups serving the communities they have resorts located. For Kirkwood, Heavenly and Northstar, support was given to support the health and resilience of the Truckee and South Lake Tahoe communities.

Prescribed burns to continue around Lake Tahoe

Weather permitting, California State Parks, California Tahoe Conservancy, North Lake Tahoe and Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection Districts and the U.S. Forest Service may continue prescribed fire operations over the next several weeks in multiple locations around Lake Tahoe.
Area 1 - No planned burning.

December 5, 2018 - 4:00pm Come join the fun at Black Bear Lodge in South Lake Tahoe when Santa and Mrs. Claus make the scene for a festive afternoon of cookies and crafts on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm. All ages are welcome with a variety of options taking place!
A suggested donation of $5 per child will go directly to SOS Outreach's youth programs. They have an office in South Lake Tahoe, on Harrison Avenue where they "help kids gear up for life!" For more information on this terrific organization please visit their website at www.sosoutreach.org .

Good Morning Lake Tahoe Skiers & Riders…
We survived the Thanksgiving Holiday weekend and resorts that remain open this week and for the season continue to make snow and spin lifts. Kirkwood has scheduled Chair #6 – Cornice Express to offer top to bottom skiing & riding. Mammoth Mtn. & Mt Rose also open top to bottom. More snow predicted to come through with a Winter Storm Watch starting Wednesday.

South Tahoe Now will be carrying The Mountain Resort Report by Curtis Fong during the 2018-19 ski season.
Good morning Lake Tahoe skiers and riders. It's a beautiful Sunday FUnday for ending your Thanksgiving weekend! Kirkwood has three lifts and 15 trails open; Mammoth is open top to bottom with 12 lifts and 37 trails open; Squaw has Gold Coast open on the upper mountain; Mt. Rose is open top to bottom. Have fun and be safe! If you are departing the Lake Tahoe Basin, buckle up, drive safely and have patience with traffic.
Kirkwood opens with 30" of fresh snow

It was opening day of the 2018-19 ski season for Kirkwood Mountain Resort on Saturday and the six inches of snow they received overnight helped them start with a base. The resort has had 30" of new snow since Wednesday.
Lifts started spinning at 9:00 a.m. with eager skiers and riders lined up at the base, awaiting first tracks. Passholders were treated to free breakfast sandwiches before hitting the slopes and all guests had a chance to win some snack, ski and ride gear giveaways.
