More Fresh Pow with the Winter Storm Warning continuing in effect through 3pm this afternoon. Today’s Weather: Expect Snow… Snow accumulation of 3-9” with 7-13” above 7000 ft. Highs: 27F-32F (17F-22F @ 8000 feet). Southwest winds 10-15 mph with gusts up to 35 mph. Ridge gusts up to 70 mph.

Tonight: Mostly Cloudy with scattered snow showers. Lows: 6F-16F. Southwest winds around 10 mph in the evening becoming light.

WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 3 PM PST THIS AFTERNOON…

* CHANGES…Slightly lower snow totals east of Highway 89.

* WHAT…Moderate to heavy snow. Snow accumulations 5 to 10 inches… except 8 to 14 inches along and west of Highway 89. This snow will be more powdery.

* WHERE…Greater Lake Tahoe Area.

* WHEN…Until 3 PM PST. Heaviest snowfall expected this morning.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Travel could be very difficult today, especially this morning. Gusty winds could produce poor visibility especially in higher elevations.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS… Avoid travel if possible, you could be stuck in your vehicle for many hours. If you must travel, prepare for long delays and carry an emergency kit with extra food, water and clothing. If you stay home, have a backup plan in case of power outages.

WHAT TO WEAR: Dress warm, in layers with your Gore-Tex Jacket or Shell. Take warm gloves, a hat or beanie, and wear a Helmet for Safety. Also wear good yellow or rose tinted Goggles. Don’t forget to Stay Hydrated at Altitude!

SURFACE CONDITIONS: Surface Conditions are Fresh Powder/Snow over Machine Groomed. Machine Groomed & Skier-Rider Packed Powder/Snow. Watch for marked & unmarked obstacles.

SAFETY MESSAGE: Stay on designated Opened Trails only. Keep an eye out for marked and unmarked obstacles. Slow Down and observe safety signs on trails with high concentration of skiers and riders… Know the Code! Always stay in control. Be able to avoid objects and people in your Path! Please stop to side of the run where it is safe and always check uphill for skiers and riders before restarting downhill.
