Jazz artist presents 'Me and Bobby McGee' at Valhalla Boathouse

Tahoe Arts Project and Missoula Children's Theatre present Aladdin

Tahoe Arts Project will be bringing the Missoula Children’s Theater back to Tahoe the week of July 6-10. Auditions will be held for the Missoula Children's Theatre (MCT) production of Aladdin on Monday July 6 at the South Tahoe Middle School Multi-Purpose room from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Those auditioning should arrive at 10:00 a.m. and plan to stay for the full two hours. Some of the cast members will be asked to stay for a rehearsal immediately following the audition.

Rock the Night Away at LTCC benefit concert

Every quarter, the Lake Tahoe Community College Music Department puts on a final exam that truly rocks. Traditionally, Rock Ensemble students studying with teacher and professional musician Eric Hellberg stage a concert to earn their final grades.

This Spring, students in LTCC’s New Wave Music and Beginning Rock Ensemble classes will be rocking for an even higher purpose: their final exams will also serve as a benefit concert to support a fellow rocker in need.

Auditions for hit musical Pippin being held at LTCC

Random Acts of Improv, a South Lake Tahoe improvisation group, returns to the Lake Tahoe Community College's Duke Theater for another night of fun and off-the-wall comedy.

This one-night-only performance will be Friday, February 6 at 7:30 p.m.

This family-friendly show will feature seasoned improvisation performers, along with a few fresh faces. As always, willing kids will be invited on stage to help the performers out.

Actors and crew sought for LTCC play "The Last Days of Judas Iscariot"

The Last Days of Judas Iscariot is the next play being put on by the Lake Tahoe Community College (LTCC) Theatre Arts Department and they will soon be holding auditions.

There are a wide variety of roles available for men and women. Auditions are Tuesday, January 6 at 7 p.m. in LTCC’s Duke Theatre. Performances will be March 13 through 22, 2015.

Peanutcracker Returns to Carson City and Reno

The Sierra Nevada Ballet will present the popular “Peanutcracker – The Story in a Nut Shell” on Dec. 6 in the Bob Boldrick Theater in the Carson City Community Center at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Based on Lev Ivanov‘s original ballet “The Nutcracker,” Peanutcracker is a shorter, 45-minute narrated version that is “designed for families with younger children to introduce them to the wonderful world of ballet,” noted Rosine Bena, Artistic Director of the Sierra Nevada Ballet who wrote and choreographed this traditional holiday show.

LTCC receives $5 million donation from local woman to build a University Center

A historic donation was made to the Lake Tahoe Community College today, enabling the school to build the Robert Maloff University Center on campus in preparation for offering four year degrees. LTCC has applied to be part of a state pilot program that will bring in baccalaureate degrees to 15 community colleges, beginning with at least one program at each school.

Valhalla Art and Music Festival wraps up season with two free concerts

On Sunday, August 17 Valhalla presents the final in the free Concert on the Lawn series. This is a special free kids concert featuring the acclaimed children’s act the Banana Slug String Band. Their music is original and full of inspiring positive messages about taking care of each other and the environment. Everyone is invited to bring a picnic and join sit on the Grand Lawn at Valhalla from noon to 2:00 p.m.

The Lake Tahoe Community College District was voted into existence 40 years ago, on March 5, 1974. The College has big plans to celebrate its anniversary with a number of fun and educational events this year. How does a community deal with and recover from a tragedy that shocked the entire world? This November, the Lake Tahoe Community College (LTCC) Theatre Arts Department will explore that question in its production of “The Laramie Project: Ten Years Later,” by Moisés Kaufman, Stephen Belber, Leigh Fondakowski, and Greg Pierotti. The play seeks to understand a town that is forced to cope with the aftermath of a brutal hate crime, while also facing their own biases and fears under the media spotlight.

Peanutcracker Ballet Ideal for Kids this Holiday Season

The Sierra Nevada Ballet will present the popular “PEANUTCRACKER – The Story in Nut Shell” on December 6 and 7 in Carson City and December 17th in Reno, Nv. Based on Lev Ivanov‘s original ballet “The Nutcracker”, PEANUTCRACKER is a shorter, 45-minute narrated version that is “designed for families with younger children to introduce them to the wonderful world of ballet,” noted Rosine Bena, Artistic Director of the Sierra Nevada Ballet. Bena who wrote and choreographed this traditional holiday show.
