The four finalists for the position of Lake Tahoe Community College's Superintendent/President have been announced, and the public will have the opportunity to meet them in a forum on November 17 in the school's Aspen Board room at 9:00 a.m.

The 38th Annual Freaker's Ball, Lake Tahoe’s largest, oldest and most extravagant Halloween party, brings the wild with a four-ring costume circus in the Convention Center, Opal Ultra Lounge and Blu Nightclub venues at MontBleu on Saturday, Oct. 29, 2016, at 8:00 p.m. Cost is $35 prior to Saturday, then $40 at the door if tickets are available. Costume contest with prizes.

On Friday, the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino holds the 2nd Annual Rockin’ Dead Halloween Bash inside Vinyl starting at 9:00 p.m. Tickets are $25. Costume contest with prizes.

Word Wave, a festival for readers, writers, and lovers of story has returned to South Lake Tahoe. The three day long Word Wave will feature readings, workshops, panels, music, and plays from October 21-23, 2016 at Tallac Historic Site.

Every culture has used, and continues to use, story to entertain, educate, preserve history and tradition, and connect and WordWave will celebrate those words and the story in all its forms for the second year on the South Shore.

Events are free and open to the public unless otherwise noted.

Three new art exhibits will be featured at Lake Tahoe Community College this fall and they will be celebrated with a free artist reception from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m on Thursday, September 29. Meet the artists and enjoy light refreshments with fellow art lovers.

Pope House Tour at the Tallac Historic Site - The Pope House Tour is the perfect way to see how the rich and famous lived while at Lake Tahoe, from the separate kitchen to the elegantly restored formal dining room. Teddy Roosevelt once said the Chautauqua is "the most American thing about America." Audiences will soon be able to see one of these historical, and entertaining, events on the South Shore when the Lake Tahoe Historical Society presents their annual Chautauqua at Lake Tahoe August 13 at 6:30 p.m. There is a cocktail party with fabulous appetizers at 5:15 p.m., which is included in the price of admission.

Auditions will be held for Missoula Children's Theatre production of Pinocchio on Monday, July 11 at South Tahoe Middle School Multi-Purpose Room from 10:00 to 12:00. Those auditioning should arrive at 10:00 and plan to stay for the full two hours. Auditions are free and if cast there is a $50 per child fee to participate in this week long theater experience. The historical American character and humorist, Mark Twain is returning to Nevada and Lake Tahoe California, so be on the lookout for an elderly man with a distinctive mound of unruly white hair, wearing a white suit with an ever-present cigar in his hand. Actually, Rob Alvey, a professional geologist and adjunct Professor at York College in NYC is coming. Alvey, an award winning geologist with the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Superfund Division is well regarded for his unique sense of humor and an uncanny resemblance to Samuel Clemens alter ego, Mark Twain.

Lake Tahoe Community College (LTCC) and Sierra Nevada College (SNC Tahoe) are co-hosting an Open House on Thursday, June 16 at 5:00 p.m. in LTCC’s Board/Aspen Room to explore offering an undergraduate bachelor’s degree in Global Business Management from LTCC’s South Lake Tahoe campus. The two colleges are seeking community and student input to gauge the level of interest in the program. As the partnership between LTCC and SNC moves forward, it will bring an accredited four-year bachelor’s degree option to LTCC’s South Shore campus for the first time.

It once housed The Shiek, a boat named in honor of Rudolf Valentino, friend and frequent guest to the Pope Estate in South Lake Tahoe. The Shiek was the biggest and fastest boat of its time on Lake Tahoe.

In the late 1800's it housed the boats of William Tevis who owned the 75 acre sprawling estate along the South Shore.

Entries are open now for the second annual Lake Tahoe WordWave One-Act Play Competition. “WordWave, A Festival of Story at Lake Tahoe,” will return Oct. 21-23 to the Tallac Historic Site in South Lake Tahoe, Calif. Winners of the play competition receive a $500 cash prize and the chance to see their work directed and produced as a staged reading on the historic Boathouse Theatre stage.

The cast and crew of South Tahoe High School's Rumors is celebrating another successful production of their highly acclaimed Theater Arts Department. Under the tutelage of STHS Theater Director Nannette "Liz" Niven, the Neil Simon play opened Thursday night to a packed house, and they expect more of the same during the next four shows.

Bodies will be dropping like flies as mystery, chaos, and laughter prevail during The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940, a Hollywood murder mystery being performed by by the Theatre Arts Department at Lake Tahoe Community College.

The play, written by John Bishop and directed by Susan Boulanger, will be at the school's Duke Theater March 11, 12, 17, 18, 19 at 7:30 p.m., with Sunday matinees on March 13 and 20 at 2 p.m.

Production of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella at the South Tahoe High School

Keith Urban is set to embark on his first arena tour in two years.

His RipCORD World Tour 2016 will feature Brett Eldredge, who toured with Urban as a special guest on his 2014 Raise ‘Em Up Tour.

Newcomer and critical darling Maren Morris will join the tour as this year’s special guest, and Urban promises it will be one heck of a time.

“We’ll be playing a lot of new music from RipCORD, all new production, new cities where we’ve never played … and Brett Eldredge and Maren Morris? It’s gonna be potent and unbridled,” Urban said in Monday’s (Jan 11) announcement of the tour.

The Theatre Arts Department at Lake Tahoe Community College encourages actors of all ages and ethnicities to audition for its Winter production of The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940, written by John Bishop. Auditions will be held Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. in LTCC’s Duke Theatre, inside the Fine Arts Building. Performances of the play take place March 11-20, 2016.

The community is invited to a free screening of the short documentary film, Ellis, on Monday, November 16 at 7:00 p.m. in the Lake Tahoe Community College's Duke Theater.

Following the 14-minute film, Dr. Albert Ponce, the LTCC History and Ethnic Studies assistant professor, will lead a discussion on the current immigration story and how it's changed.

The inaugural Winter Bazaar will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2015, at the South Lake Tahoe Senior Center from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The event is open to the public and will feature stocking stuffers, gifts for Hanukkah and Christmas, and small prizes for attending. Food will be offered for sale by Seniors, Inc. The Senior Center is located at 3050 Lake Tahoe Blvd.

The Tahoe Arts Project once again presents the Missoula Children's Theatre, this year with their production of Peter and Wendy.

It is a busy week-long experience for children ages 5 to 17. They will start off with auditions for over 60 roles on November 2 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Rehearsals are Tuesday through Thursday, November 3-6, then a production on Saturday, November 7 at 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.

The Theatre Arts Department at Lake Tahoe Community College (LTCC) is looking for people to fill roles for their upcoming production of Arthur Miller's classic American drama Death of a Salesman. Auditions will be held on Tuesday, September 22 at 7:00 p.m. in LTCC’s Duke Theatre, inside the Fine Arts building on campus. Performances of the play will take place November 13-22, 2015.

Author Mojie Crigler will be reading from her new book, Get Me Through Tomorrow: A Sister's Memoir of Brain Injury and Revival, tonight at Bona Fide Books in Meyers at 7 p.m.

The Valhalla Art, Music and Theatre Festival continues with a live music double header when Susie Glaze & The Hilonesome Band and Houston Jones perform in the Boathouse Theater on Wednesday, August 5 from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.

“The course of true love never did run smooth," wrote William Shakespeare in his most famous comedy, 'A Midsummer Night’s Dream.' Fans of the Bard are in for a treat as talented South Tahoe High students bring back their hit play to the Valhalla Boathouse Theater.

The play will be presented with a Tahoe Twist by Tahoe South's acclaimed young adult theatre and promises to keep you in stitches. Director Nannette Niven has a cast of 20 including Bjorn Hedqvist, Stephanie Hernandez, Zoe Greco, Tyler Martin, Steve Huerta, Zane Brady, Hunter Turney and Jered Stowell.
