16 Year Old Continues Underwater Dream

The training, build-up, practice sessions and the actual 30-Mile journey will be filmed in 3D to show the ups and downs of this dream as it becomes reality. This includes the physical demands, the explorerʼs mind- set, developing technical innovations and the final outcome with discoveries / insights.
The mission is to attract as many sharks as possible to estimate how many (or how few) sharks are present in the area this time of year.

September 17, 2011 (All day) South Shore Lake Tahoe local Sid Loomis continues her work with the Undersea Voyager Project in Catalina on September 17. The 16-year-old was part of the original crew that brought a submersible to Lake Tahoe in May of 2009 to study Lake Tahoe and Fallen Leaf, as well as projects in Catalina and Bodega Bay in 2010.
On Saturday, Sept. 17 team leader Scott Cassell will scuba dive from Catalina to Cabrillo Aquarium near Long Beach for a study on sharks.
An approximate 30 mile dive (including extra miles due to currents) without surfacing. Sid will be lead student ambassador and her jobs will include safety diver, boat driver, and photographer.
