Victim in alleged murder-suicide feared for her life in 2007

In a request for a restraining order filed in July 2007, Lyra Fisher-Bomediano said she feared she would end up dead at the hands of her husband, Aaron Fisher.

Nevada Taxable Sales Sees Modest But Solid Gain In April

The $3.5 billion in taxable purchases in April were buoyed by double-digit gains in several major categories, including construction; up 16.1 percent, merchant wholesalers-durable goods, up 10.2 percent; and motor vehicle and parts dealers, up 10.5 percent.

Submitted by Editor on Fri, 06/29/2012 - 2:56pmUPDATE 6:11PM: One person was stabbed and a suspect is at large and being sought by South Lake Tahoe police Friday evening.
The stabbing happened at about 3:46 Friday afternoon in the area of 11th and Eloise. The suspect is described as late teens, a white male, without a shirt, wearing plaid white and blue shorts, a Boston Celtics ball cap being worn backwards, with a backpack and carrying a knife. The stabbing may have stemmed from an incident where the victim, a 22-year-old man, was riding a bicycle and the suspect was on a skateboard. The victim was taken to Barton Memorial Hospital with a stab wound to his arm, said South Lake Tahoe Police Lt. David Stevenson.

Nevada Highway Patrol to set up Incline Village sobriety checkpoint over July 4 holiday
Submitted by Editor on Fri, 06/29/2012 - 7:43amThe Nevada Highway Patrol, along with the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, Sparks Police Department, and the Carson City Sheriff’s Office are planning a sobriety check point for the Fourth of July holiday.
The check point will be held in Incline Village at Lake Tahoe and is being funded by a Joining Forces grant from the Nevada Office of Traffic Safety.
Due to the fireworks display and other special events planned at Lake Tahoe, a large increase in both vehicular and pedestrian traffic expected during the holiday.

When Mammoth Mountain Ski Area announced last week (June 21) that it would close down the June Mountain ski area at least until the end of the 2012-13 ski season, the reaction was swift and tense.
