In-town public sled hills disappear

And though there are plenty of places to sled and tube around the city limits of South Lake Tahoe, the last of the remaining free places in town have dried up.
And not for a lack of snow, either. Two sled and tube hill favorites have been removed from the public after recent projects leveled some of the property to make way for expansions.

Chains are required on Highway 50 over Echo Summit and chains or snow tires are required over Spooner to Carson City. Submitted by Editor on Sun, 02/12/2012 - 9:30amA gun was drawn on a clerk and an undetermined amount of cash taken at the J&M Mini Mart in Minden on Friday night. Douglas County authorities are seeking the public's help in finding the robber and a possible accomplice.
The armed robbery happened at about 8:45 p.m., with the suspect, wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, dark mask and gloves, getting inside a gray four-door sedan with dark-tinted windows, possibly and Audi or a Volkswagon Jetta. It is believed a second person was in the vehicle and served as the driver, said Douglas County Sgt. Jim Halsey. The clerk was unhurt.

Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows offers 4,000 acres of open terrain, 31 lifts, 6 terrain parks and a jib pipe with 54 terrain park features. With snow predicted in the next week, both resorts are expected to add to their 3-to-4-foot bases.

Not so lucky now when I went to see the reworked original decked out in 3D. The film is now playing at the Horizon Stadium Cinema at Stateline, Lake Tahoe. And for all those Star Wars fans, and they know who they are, you won't want to miss it; though you can see the release without 3D and you won't be missing much.
