U.S. Forest Service officers cited four local men for riding snowmobiles at night in the Freel Peak/High Meadows closure area on the Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit.

A few weeks ago, I wrote about the importance of creating a vision plan in order to begin getting what you want out of life. Just ONE thing you’d like to be different. Many people when faced with this task don’t know where to start because they get overwhelmed with thinking about ALL the things they want to change. Suddenly their eyes glaze over, their thoughts race in a thousand different directions, and frustration or helplessness sets in. Making changes just feels too difficult or even impossible to tackle.

Nevada Political Season Gets Under Way Today With Dozens Of Candidates Filing For Office

CARSON CITY – There was a flurry of candidates filing for office and some political maneuvering today as Nevada’s 2012 election season officially got under way.
Over 90 candidates filed for a variety of offices in Clark County.
Another 17 filed with the Secretary of State’s office and others filed in their respective counties around the state.

The popular American rock group 311 takes the stage March 6 performing an array of chart-topping songs from their 10 albums. Their latest album, Universal Pulse, released earlier this year includes hit singles, “Sunset in July” and “Count Me In.”
The Dirty Heads, reggae rock band from Southern California, kicks off the show with a melodic style that includes hip hop and punk genres. Their debut album, “Any Port in a Storm,” was released in 2008.

Prescribed fire resumes Tuesday at Lake Tahoe on Kingsbury Grade

U.S. Forest Service fuels management crews will resume controlled pile burning on Kingsbury Grade near Andria Drive Tuesday, March 6.
The size of the operation will depend on the condition of the area, according to the Forest Service. Crews may continue operations through the week and possibly through the weekend, weather and conditions permitting.

Lake Tahoe Cruises Ski Shuttle to Northstar

The Tahoe Queen has brought back its popular Ski Shuttle service which runs on Tuesdays and Thursdays through April. The shuttle and scenic cruise will take guests from Ski Run Marina to Northstar, serving a buffet-style breakfast as passengers enjoy the views of the lake.

Authorities ask for help in locating family of twin elderly South Lake Tahoe sisters found dead

The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office is asking for help in locating family members of elderly twins, Patricia and Joan Miller, 73, who were found dead in their South Lake Tahoe home on February 26. The nature of their deaths hasn't been determined, however, foul play has been ruled out, said Sheriff's Lt. Bryan Golmitz. The cause and manner of death is still being investigated by El Dorado County Sheriff’s detectives and the South Lake Tahoe Police Department.

Lake Tahoe Home & Garden Show at Lake Tahoe Community College April 27-28
