Nevada Job Creation Efforts Move Forward With New Economic Development Office

CARSON CITY – Efforts by Gov. Brian Sandoval and state lawmakers to encourage new business creation, relocation and expansion in Nevada took a major step forward today when the Legislature’s Interim Finance Committee approved nearly $3.5 million to fund a new economic development office.
Mountain Milers Donate $7,050 to Tahoe Heritage Foundation

The running club raised the money during the 2011 Kokanee Salmon Run. These funds will be used to support next year's Kokanee Salmon Festival and the college internship summer program at Taylor Creek Visitor Center.

The 2012 Lake Tahoe Storm Drain Outfall Calendar has been prepared by anonymous members of the Tahoe Pipe Club. The calendar presents photographs of example storm drain pipes which are polluting Lake Tahoe. In spite of decades of restoration in the name of lake clarity these pipes and hundreds of other pipes like them are allowed to pollute Lake Tahoe with toxic storm water. Tahoe Pipe Club wants the urban storm water infiltrated into the ground before it reaches these pipes.

Weather conditions change how we drive Sierra roads and in winter chains and snow tires are certainly a given factor when crossing mountain passes in snowy conditions. Caltrans and the Nevada Department of Transportation are good places to start before you even hit the road with up to the minute reports on travel conditions.

Two of Lake Tahoe's most popular ski and snowboarding icons, Daron Rahlves and Jeremy Jones, have finished shooting public service ads this week for the nonprofit Tahoe Fund's Plate for Powder program. Rahlves and Jones donated their time for the California and Nevada Lake Tahoe specialty license plates program, which gives new Tahoe license plate buyers two free Alpine or Nordic ski tickets to their choice of 12 major Lake Tahoe-area ski resorts.
