Submitted by Editor on Thu, 12/15/2011 - 2:46pmSubmitted by Tahoe Pipe Club
The 2012 Lake Tahoe Storm Drain Outfall Calendar has been prepared by anonymous members of the Tahoe Pipe Club. The calendar presents photographs of example storm drain pipes which are polluting Lake Tahoe. In spite of decades of restoration in the name of lake clarity these pipes and hundreds of other pipes like them are allowed to pollute Lake Tahoe with toxic storm water. Tahoe Pipe Club wants the urban storm water infiltrated into the ground before it reaches these pipes.
Tahoe Transportation District blog: Maneuvering Mountain Roads
Submitted by Editor on Thu, 12/15/2011 - 2:30pmWhether it’s sharing the road with bicyclists during the summer or using four wheel drive or chains in winter, even seasoned drivers will tell you mountain driving isn’t the flat lands with its share of switch backs and blind spots, steep hills and wildlife.
Weather conditions change how we drive Sierra roads and in winter chains and snow tires are certainly a given factor when crossing mountain passes in snowy conditions. Caltrans and the Nevada Department of Transportation are good places to start before you even hit the road with up to the minute reports on travel conditions.

Movie Review: 'The Sitter' has some moments but not many
Submitted by Sam Bauman on Wed, 12/14/2011 - 2:26amBy Sam Bauman
"The Sitter," billed as a black comedy and currently flickering at Heavenly Village Cinema at South Shore Lake Tahoe, is mercifully only 81 minutes long, but that's long enough to spell disaster to any discriminating movie goer.
It stars comic actor Jonah Hill as college failure Noah forced into baby sitting three of the most repellent child actors in living memory. He is also pursuing a blonde who is suggesting intimacy that night.
