NHP: Increased and Targeted Enforcement Planned for Crosswalk and Pedestrian Violations
Submitted by Editor on Thu, 01/05/2012 - 10:50amIn light of the recent accidents involving pedestrians who have been struck and killed and the fact that pedestrian-related crashes in Douglas, Lyon and Washoe Counties were higher in 2011, as opposed to the previous year, troopers from the Nevada Highway Patrol will be concentrating their enforcement efforts on pedestrian and crosswalk violations over the next several weeks*.
Registration open for Kinder Kup Race Series to Benefit Heavenly Foundation

Open to all skiers and snowboarders age six and under, the Kinder Kup series is designed to introduce young athletes to competition in a friendly environment. No previous race experience necessary and all abilities are welcome. Entry is $20 and includes a World Cup only competitor lift ticket if needed.

Forest Service temporarily reduces Incline Village office hours

Beginning Jan. 11, the office at 855 Alder Ave., will be open Wednesday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. The change is a reduction of about two hours each day and is only temporary, said Lisa Herron, Forest Service spokeswoman. It is not a result of funding cuts but changes to staffing.

UPDATE: From the Douglas County Sheriff's Office: Fleeing felon Victor Mora Jr. was captured Wednesday night at the Carson City Inn Motel in Carson City. Mora Jr. was captured by Douglas County Investigator Investigator Nadine Chrzanowski after receiving an anonymous tip regarding his whereabouts.
Mora Jr. is currently in custody at the DCSO Minden Jail, booked on an arrest warrant for lewdness with a minor.
Bail is set at $50,000.
Chrzanowski expresses her appreciation for assistance received from the Carson City Sheriff’s Office in assisting in the arrest.
