Local Tahoe Adventures solves the problem that any have - how to get the equipment needed to Lake Tahoe. With smaller cars hitting the road, many don't have the room to carry a kayak or standup paddleboard to the beach.

Jessica "Nikky" Lipovsky started the company to take care of problems like that.

Nikky started the business in 2022 and is using this second summer to grow and fill more recreation needs.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – The USDA Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit (LTBMU) has announced its selections for the special use permits for Camp Richardson, Meeks Bay, and Zephyr Cove resorts.

The Granger-Thye Concession special use permits are subject to a 45-day appeal period. The people who applied for the permits can appeal, but not the general public. Both Zephyr Cove and Meeks Bay resorts are staying with the current operators but a change could happen at Camp Richardson resort.

Lake Tahoe is a SUP, standup paddleboard, paradise — 72 miles of gorgeous shoreline ringed with snowcapped peaks — an outdoor excursion good for body and soul.

Paddling is an excellent workout, targeting not only your core muscles but also muscles throughout your entire body. Your arm, shoulder, and back muscles engage when you paddle through the water, while your leg muscles work to maintain your balance.

Like any sport or workout, there are some musculoskeletal risks related to SUP including shoulder impingement, lower back strain, and elbow pain.

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Nev. - It was another contentious meeting of the Douglas County School District (DCSD) Board on Wednesday, with hours of public comment and board deliberations about the status of the district's legal counsel. Once all was said and done, as expected the board terminated the contract with its counsel since 1985, Maupin, Cox & Legoy, and hired Reno attorney and former GOP gubernatorial candidate Joey Gilbert to become DCSD counsel.

EL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. - The El Dorado County Area Agency on Aging has a limited supply of Senior Farmers’ Market check booklets for El Dorado County older adults who meet age and income guidelines. Each eligible senior may receive one booklet. Each booklet has five checks redeemable for $10 each to be used at Certified Farmers’ Markets to buy fresh fruits, vegetables, cut herbs, and raw unprocessed honey. Checks are good at Certified Farmers’ Markets in California.

INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. - Make a plan, assemble a kit, and stay informed – these are key components of emergency preparedness.

Washoe County Emergency Management, in collaboration with the North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District, Washoe County Sheriff's Office, and community partners, will be conducting an evacuation drill in the Second Creek area of Incline Village, NV. The purpose of this exercise is to test the effectiveness of the Regional Evacuation, Shelter, and Mass Care Plan in response to a simulated wildland fire west of the 2nd Creek neighborhood.
