Event Date:
April 25, 2015 - 8:00am

Free course in advocacy 25-April-2015 8:00a.m. - 12p.m. at the Genoa Volunteer Firestation. This course is taught by volunteers from NAMI, National Alliance on Mental Illness. It is taught at UNR to students majoring in social work in their senior year. Over 4,000 people have taken this course nationally.

For our family advocating for improved mental health services is near and dear to our heart. Whatever topic is important to you (mental health, diversity, disability services or another cause) this class will help you communicate your message. Learn to tell your personal story in 90-seconds or less with impact.

We have personally advocated with insurance companies, providers, and testified at the legislature to improve gaps in the many systems that touch the lives of our loved one and all those living with mental health issues.

5 years ago we never imagined we would be advocating in this way - it has been a rewarding process.

NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness has volunteers that work to improve lives of those with mental illness and their families - every day. NAMI provides free support, education, and advocacy.
