AAUW to honor local Tech Trek girls

The South Lake Tahoe Branch of American Association of University Women (AAUW) sponsors girls interested in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) to attend a week-long residential camp on the campus of UC Davis.

Interested girls are nominated by their 7th-grade science or math teachers, then fill out an application, write an essay, and are then interviewed for a chance to be awarded one of the up to three local sponsorships.

Ninety-four girls from Northern California participate in core classes, workshops, presentations, and special field trips on campus.

This year, SLT AAUW will honor the selected campers at its general meeting on Wednesday, June 15, 4-5 pm, on the University Plaza next to the Duke theater at LTCC.
