Winter Storm Warning through Tuesday at Lake Tahoe

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - It appears there are a couple of more storms on their way to the Sierra, but then there is a light at the end of the tunnel, finally!

The main remaining storm in this series is Monday, with a weaker one Wednesday. Signals at this time show a much less active weather pattern for the rest of January.

There is a chance of 2-4 more inches of snow tonight, then 3-5 inches on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Reno.

The two-day forecast from NWS Reno:

Today - Snow likely, mainly before 4 pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 35. Southwest wind around 15 mph. The chance of precipitation is 60%. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than one inch is possible.

Tonight - Snow, mainly after 10 pm. Low around 17. South wind 5 to 10 mph becoming east in the evening. The chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches is possible.

M.L.King Day - Snow, mainly before 4 pm. High near 33. East wind around 5 mph becoming southwest in the afternoon. The chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches is possible.

Monday Night - A 50 percent chance of snow, mainly before 10 pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low of around 13. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch is possible.
