Event Date:
January 27, 2022 - 5:30pm
Join Alpine County Community Development on Thursday, January 27 for an internet-based video and phone conference to learn about “Living with Bears,” hosted by Shelly Blair, wildlife biologist for the California Department of Fish and Wildlife. The program is only virtual, starting at 5:30 p.m. There is no in-person attendance option.
It’s not uncommon to see bears in and around communities located near bear habitats. A bear sighting alone is not a cause for concern.
Blair will provide strategies to make your property less attractive to bears and explain the depredation permit process. If a bear causes damage to your home or property, contact your Department of Fish and Wildlife Regional Office and they may conduct a site inspection.
Prevention is always the first step. It’s up to all of us to help keep bears alive and wild for generations to come.
