SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The Lake Tahoe Unified School District (LTUSD) postponed student concerts and canceled in-person attendance at home sporting events when they were experiencing high levels of student and staff absences due to COVID-19.
Student and staff absences trended down sharply last week according to LTUSD, and as of Monday, absences since Wednesday decreased by 66 percent.
Taking into consideration that there are very few home games remaining, especially for seniors, LTUSD "is inviting family members in athletes’ households to attend this week’s home games."
Masks will be required while inside, and district officials are encouraging families to space themselves apart in the venues. Additionally, any family member recently exposed to COVID or experiencing COVID-related symptoms should stay home and not attend any LTUSD events.
LTUSD said they will continue to monitor student and staff absences this week, and if absences are still trending down substantially they will consider opening events to all spectators next week.
