Tahoe Women's Community Fund receives large donation from Tahoe Turning Point

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Tahoe Turning Point served the community for 40 years with residential treatment homes for at-risk young men. The non-profit offered a wraparound treatment plan addressing emotional health, a structured school plan as well as substance abuse support - all funded by the State of California.

In 2015 the State changed its funding structure and began the process of moving group home students into Foster care. Without the funding source and clients, in 2019 TTP began the process of closing its doors. They also served clients with DUI programs, counseling services, and many groups meeting the needs of our community.

The Tahoe Turning Point board had to make the important decision as to where to allocate their remaining funds after selling property, and they gave the remaining $216,786.52 to the Tahoe Women’s Community Fund endowment account at El Dorado Community Foundation.

The endowment account is one of two ways the Tahoe Women’s Community Fund is able to help support our community. It is designed as an investment account, and 4 percent is allowed to be used each year. That balance is now over $325,000, thanks to the generous donation from Tahoe Turning Point.

As a collective giving organization, the Tahoe Women’s Community Fund said they are committed to seeing this donation continue its ability to help the South Shore community for many decades to come.

"The Tahoe Women’s Community Fund is very thankful for the Tahoe Turning Point’s generous donation, thank you," they said in a statement.
