Quick hitting winter system and very cold temperatures up next for Lake Tahoe

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Ready for the cold and snow to be a thing of the past? That isn't going to happen for a while, and the next winter weather system in the Lake Tahoe forecast shows that.
A quick-moving slider-type winter system is expected to impact the Sierra and western Nevada on Sunday into Sunday night, bringing gusty ridge winds and light snowfall accumulations. On its tail will be some bitterly cold temperatures.
Ahead of the precipitation, westerly winds will begin to increase Saturday night into Sunday morning. Sierra ridges will see gusts between 60 to 80 mph which will result in some mountain recreational impacts, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Reno. Expect choppy conditions on Lake Tahoe as gusts will climb up to around 30 mph.
This will be a cold system, with powdery snow at all elevations. Snow totals will be meager by Sierra standards, with generally 2-6" expected.
The NWS Reno forecast for South Lake Tahoe:
Saturday - Sunny, with a high near 46. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph.
Saturday Night - A 30 percent chance of snow after 4 am. Partly cloudy, with a low around 18. Southwest wind 10 to 15 mph. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch is possible.
Sunday - Snow, mainly between 10 am and 4 pm. The snow could be heavy at times. High near 30. Southwest wind around 10 mph becoming northeast in the afternoon. The chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches is possible.
Sunday Night - A 30 percent chance of snow, mainly before 10 pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 3. Northeast wind 10 to 15 mph. New snow accumulation of less than one inch is possible.
Monday - Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 29.
Monday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 2.
Tuesday - Mostly sunny, with a high near 37.
Tuesday Night - Partly cloudy, with a low around 12.
