South Lake Tahoe boutique real estate brokerage offers elevated service

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - There is nothing like launching a new business days before the pandemic shuts down the country, just ask Gregory Ochoa. What may have seemed risky at the time turned out to be the right decision as the stay-at-home orders were lifted and the business flourished.

Ochoa's Mountain Luxury Properties has grown in a few short years to have 15 agents, all serving around Lake Tahoe on both sides of the state line from three offices. He had started off his real estate career with Oliver Luxury Real Estate, but when they were purchased by Corcoran Global Living, Ochoa decided to launch Mountain Luxury Properties.

"I felt there was a void when Oliver was purchased," said Ochoa. "Lake Tahoe needed that boutique luxury service again."

Ochoa said that with Mountain Luxury Properties being a boutique brokerage they can move outside of the box and not treat each property with cookie-cutter templates and other rules of big companies.

Mountain Luxury Properties has offices in both California and Nevada around the lake - located in South Lake Tahoe, Tahoe City, and Zephyr Cove.

"We have been working on building a collaborative and curated culture over the last three years," said Ochoa of his company. That culture encourages the Mountain Lux agents to treat every client and transaction with the elevated concierge approach that Mountain Lux is known for.

Mountain Luxury Properties has attracted some of the area's top producing and influential real estate agents in the area. Jennie Fairchild, one of Mountain Lux's first agents, has represented several Fortune 500 clients. The newest agent coming on board the team will be long-time real estate broker Thane McCall, who built and then eventually sold McCall Realty.

Ochoa played football for Sacramento State where he received a degree in Criminal Justice. The avid snowboarder eventually moved to South Lake Tahoe in 2006 and worked as a lineman for AT&T until he took a buyout in 2010. Ochoa started off as a real estate appraiser, then became a full-time agent in 2011. He and his wife Mallory now have two sons, one a student at Sierra House Elementary and the other at South Tahoe Middle School.

Ochoa's close connection to the South Shore community has led him to give back. Mountain Luxury Properties recently donated $25,000 to the new Ski Run Community Park in South Lake Tahoe, an opportunity Gregory said was a very special moment.

Approaching its third year since launch, Mountain Luxury Properties has already sold over $300,000,000 in sales around the lake. 2022 brought Mountain Lux's biggest sale yet: 1340 W Lake Blvd, Tahoe City, CA sold for $15,000,000. Mountain Luxury Properties has sold a total of eight lakefront homes since its launch. Mountain Lux specializes in selling luxury homes.
