COVID-19 case update for Lake Tahoe area counties

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - El Dorado County health officers announced 73 residents have tested positive for COVID-19 since yesterday. Of those, 17 are in El Dorado Hills, 26 in Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue, 14 in Greater Placerville, 0 in Diamond Springs/El Dorado, 5 in Pollock Pines/Camino/Kyburz, 12 in North County, 1 in South County, 1 in Lake Tahoe region. Awaiting address confirmation from today's count: -3. Total now awaiting address confirmation: 102.

Of those new cases, -2 are under the age of 18, 59 are age 18-49, 14 are aged 50-64, and 2 aged 65 or older. Awaiting age confirmation from today's county: 0. Total birthdate unknown to date: 10.

There have been another 140 assumed recoveries with 831 assumed active cases.

There have been an additional 1224 negative results received.

There are currently 10 COVID-19 patients hospitalized with 2 of them in the ICU at Barton and Marshall. According to the State's website, 1 of the non-ICU patients and 1 of the ICU patients are in Barton, with 9/1 at Marshall. There are no suspected cases in the ICU. Also according to the State website, Barton has 2 available ICU beds, Marshall 2, but as previously shared before, each hospital can expand their capacity depending on staff and other variables.

There have been two additional deaths, the total for El Dorado County residents dying from COVID-19 is 83:

- 65+, Female from Greater Placerville
- 65+, Male from Greater Placerville

The county moved into the purple tier November 17 and was under a Stay-at-Home order from December 10 to January 12. To move from purple down to red, or "substantial," the daily new cases need to be 4-7 per 100,000 and the county needs a 5 percent to 8 percent positive test rate. In that range, schools can open for in-person learning after being in red tier for 14 days.

The 7-day positivity rate for El Dorado County is 5.4 percent positivity and the 14-day rate of new cases is 335 (+13).

*In order to be eligible to move to the less restrictive Red tier, the adjusted case rate must be at 7 or below.

The whole county is currently in the High Tier
(case rate per 100,000 population over the previous 14 days of 100). South County has moved back up from the Moderate Tier (case rate per 100,000 population over the previous 14 days of 26-99). The Low Tier is 25 or less per 100,000 for last 14 days.

The Regional Information Center is reporting 95 new COVID-19 cases and 3 new deaths in Washoe County since yesterday.

Their seven-day test rate is 6.8 percent positive, and average daily case rate for last 7 days is 18.3 per 100,000. Seven-day increase is 1.6 percent, 14-day increase is 5.8 percent.
